Are there glass pipes that are treated to not become hot during use? I have to smoke on the downlow and a hot pipe is difficult to keep from reeeking.

I like the 3 above me. Don't scorch it, let it cherry itself. The fins would be good for heat dissapation Bongs would provide removable bowls which would be easier to clean, therefore having less resin to create the unwanted smell. You said its on the dl tho, so maybe look into gravlabs or medicali or something like that for a small bubbler that features a removable bowl
Of course metal gets hot but I found the protopipe (Or probably any with a lid) barely smelled at all when closed.
