Mental Constructs

  1. What is a mental construct?

A mental construct (MC), in the way I want to discuss it, can be defined as something you have convinced yourself inexorably exists.

An MC is usually exorable; disposable.

Let's look at an example: your life. You are somewhere.. whether it be high school, college, a particular job, a family, traveling, in-between everything. Your place, where you currently reside, has a tendency to seem resilient. Not permanent, because you know better. Life changes, and everything around you is a testament to that. But your particular circumstance is different.

You're different. There's no question about that. The question is, what makes you different? And why? Amidst all the familiarity of the world, amidst knowing all that you know - you don't know why. You're growing apart from your best friend.. growing away from all of your friends.

You're unable to identify with the things your friends seem to be identifying with. Their lives are clearly different from yours, and they are seemingly indifferent from you. The separation has started, as you knew it would, but as unexpected as an alien abduction. And just like an abduction, you're left floundering - what to do, who to trust, who to ask for help; who would even believe?

What if you were to trust yourself? What if, amongst all the disbelief, all the impossibility, all the surprises, you found that what you believed to be true, came true? It was never a prophecy, it was never a seer - it was just your common sense (unable to be taught, viewed as inability in most), leading the way. Your inherent sight, your natural ability, to see what works and why, is the next evolutionary factor.

You're different. There's no question about that. The question, about what it is, and why? That's no longer a question. You're different, because life changes. Because that's the way the cards played. You had no control over your own existence, it just happened. Does that make your life immoral?

Does your existence, your proliferation, your success - does any of it make you worthy of being shameful of it?

Does the idea of morality make you feel you deserve less than what you have?

And if you're less than what you deserve.. if you're existing on a thread of morality, able to do more, but incapable due to your humanitarian responsibility.. is it time to give that up?

Is it time to live without morals? Is it time to live according to the whim of circumstance?

Or is humanitarian morality the key to happiness?

What's your take on the subject?

  2. Isn't it funny?

    I ask about mental constructs...

And I create my own mental construct as a (self-determined) perfect example of a mental construct to demonstrate my intention.

The mind is one incredible tool, my friends...

Be careful what you insist on....

  3. im not really sure what to say.....but what i took away is you feel unique and important and want validation of that.

The base of any conscious thought will always have a humanitarian view. Whether you're on wall street selling dead end stock to make sure your family has the most comfortable life possible--that's humanitatian in the fact that this person associates their family as what is attached to them, the only source of love in their lives. The reality is though, the universe is just 1 thing in which we are apart of, and not everyone knows this for fact so they may not appear as having a humanitatian approach to life in the eyes of someone else. Even Hitler made his decisions based off the love of his idea and what he thought was superior race. It all depends on your understanding of what love is. If you love the world, your goals will reflect that

Mental constructs are everything... for us humans.

I think we live in a very confused time when we start feeling it neccesary to establish our own referance point in the universe:) to give an opinion. Do you get what I mean boats?

Either one forms their own reference frame... or it's established for you...

    I agree with you.

Classic, even feeling the need to estblish a mental construct for the reader to identify with. This is one you see a lot and Ive done it myself. "Im so high and I just had this idea" etc etc which is also appealing to the readers empathy to relate.

A reward for making me laugh nothing more :)

  17. I can relate to this lol.  Seeking truth can easily be coerced by the mind into an attachment to the seeking itself.

The mind is a remarkable and clever construct indeed..
