Loaning pieces?

Discussion in 'Smoking Pipes, Glass Spoon Pipes' started by Elliot Plur, Apr 11, 2014.

  1. So I loaned my first piece to a friend for a couple days because her old one broke. Once she got her new one. She cleaned and returned my bowl.
Then I loaned it to another friend because she had nothing to smoke with other than a (very badly) carved wood pipe.
I trust my friends, but I'm nervous something bad may happen.
Anybody else loan their pipe out and have these worries, or is it just me?

  2. I've loaned and been loaned pieces, never really gave it a second thought.  They're not any more likely to break it while borrowing it than they are smoking with you out of it.

  3. I never loan pieces out, as I like to switch things up with the different pieces I have.  However if i'm not using one for a while, and someone needs one, I just give it to them.  Gotta help fellow blades out

  4. I'd never loan one of my pieces unless it's a one hitter or something. There's about a 99% chance that one of my friends would break it because they set it on their lap and stand up and forget about it.

  5. I hate loaning out pieces, more often then not people break your shit then make some dumbass reason up not to pay you back or replace the piece, id rather roll someone a joint even if im mediocre as all hell at rolling them.

  6. ive loaned 1 piece, and that persons cat broke it cause the bong was on the ground, and my biggest rule is no glass on the ground
you never know how they treat it without you being with them
but if your like me and have a bunch of glass, then i would lend out the shit one
if you like it, dont lend it

  7. If you loan out a piece, you best make your peace with the fact you may never see it again. Just that simple.

  8. I'll loan pipes to some of my close friends since I've got a few extra laying around but I'm picky on who I loan em out to...

Fortunately I've never had to loan out a piece but if I had to I would deliberately choose one I don't care too much about like my one hitter or my shitty little jar bubbler. Never a nice glass piece though.

  10. I can go into my machine shop and make a nice one and never want it back.

My parents borrowed two of my pieces...

One they broke jamming a pocket knife in it scrapping resin. Still pisses me off because to this day it was the best piece I've ever had.

The second piece they still have but they used the hell out of it and it's not worth taking back.

Never loaning out my pieces again unless I don't care to get it back.

I've let people borrow my bowl that's since been confiscated by campus popo. Luckily no one ever broke it. Freshman year I lent out the free bowl that came with my incredible one and I didn't care about it so I ended up letting whoever borrowed it keep it.

Edit: no one ever broke the nice bowl obviously, but definitely you must accept that you might never see it again.
