Help Us Build A Database Of Politicians And Their Stances On Marijuana

Discussion in 'Marijuana Legalization' started by ninjak, Apr 8, 2014.

  1. Hey! We have spent a lot of time and money building a tool to enable you to see who you're eligible to vote for, and what their positions are on marijuana!

The only way this system will work is if people who CARE about legalization volunteer their time to help populate the data for their state. Politicians need to be entered, their stances recorded.

When properly filled out, anyone can drop in their address or zip code, and we'll tell them EXACTLY who to vote for in the elections.

    Check it out at:   www.smokethevote.us

  2. Yes because all that matters is there stance on weed. Sorry I will not vote for someone just becuse they are in favor of weed.

  3. You might care to educate yourself on which candidates running for state senate and state representative favor legalization, and which favor putting you in jail.

Or you might not. Whatever floats your boat, buddy.

  4. Ain't no one going to jail here.
All this does it get more uniformed voters out there voting for douch bags just becuse they are In favore of weed. There are far more important things to base your vote on. Don't worry though. Our votes don't matter anyways.

  5. You've got yours? That's nice. Lots of people in lots of other states ARE going to jail over this. 650,000 arrests for simple possession of marijuana in 2012. More than all violent crime arrests combined.

Of course, if you're growing that much weed and making massive profits off of marijuana being illegal, I wouldn't really expect you to want it legalized anywhere. Some might call that reprehensibly immoral.

  6. If you get busted for weed that is your fault. I been smoking for 10 years and have never had an encounter with law enforcemnt. I wonder how many of those 650000 arrest were made in their residents. I would assume almost 0. I wonder how many were dumb shits hot boxing cars, smoking in public parks or standing on street corners smoking a blunt. I have no sympathy for stupid.

  7. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that your lack of sympathy stems mostly from your financial incentives. I've never been arrested for anything, but seeing as I don't directly profit from the war on drugs, I'd actually like to see it end.

  8. My grows are all legal. Wouldn't you think I would make more money from
A legal market. Why wouldn't someone like me want it legal. I will let you ponder that for a while.

  9. No, you will not make more money from a legal market. When you have to compete with life-long professional farmers in Iowa who have a few thousand acres and millions of dollars worth of industrial farming equipment, you're going to be out of business.

Or maybe you haven't thought about that yet?

  10. Or maybe I am one of those guys. I would be able to grow more and sell more.

If you really think legalization will end the " war on drugs" you are truly misinformed and I leave it at that.

  11. And when the price of weed is a few bucks a pound, like other easy to grow plants such as wheat and corn and hops, what will your profit margins look like?

No, please. Explain how drug legalization won't end the war on drugs. I'm dying to hear some wisdom from you. You've clearly thought it all through.

  12. I know your new here so I let you do some digging.
And legal weed will never be a few bucks a lb like everything else. As Long as it has medical value that will never happen.

  13. I note that you didn't even try to argue something as stupid as the drug war continuing after drug legalization.

I've been working on legalization longer than you've been profiting from the drug war, though.

You don't really even try to back up your statements. There are quite a few things with medical value at CVS/Walgreens which I can buy extremely cheap. What is going to magically keep marijuana prices high when there's no risk(I noticed that although you claim your grows are completely legal you hide your face in that picture, which leads me to believe you do fear law enforcement for some reason) of being arrested and jailed?

Maybe you don't get it, so let me break it down for you: cocaine, heroin, meth, marijuana, these things are cheap as dirt to produce. They have a street value hundreds of times higher than their production costs because smugglers and dealers risk decades in pound-me-in-the-ass prison to bring them to market. Not to mention the risk of being murdered/robbed by competition.

When weed can be grown openly and legally, with no difference between it and any other crop, it's going to be as inexpensive as any other dried plant matter. This day is coming. I'm working to bring it about as soon as possible, and the vast majority of American stoners are on my side. Criminals profiting from the drug war are hoping to delay it as long as possible.

Of course, I'm speaking here to anyone else reading, since I'm not confident this is sinking in for you.

  14. Well that is where your model fails. How many plants can wa residents grow. 0. How about co. 3 flower and none outdoor. The government will not allow growing once fully legal. Who is that going to leave room for. Big pharma and big coperations. They are just setting it up for the rich to get richer. I love how you want to suck off any politician that is in Favor of legization as if there are doing what the peoe want. They just figured out how to make money off of it but we are the nada guys. If they were truly doing what the people want wouldn't it legal already. Keep trying to convince your self that mom and pop farmers are the bad guys and politicians and big business are the good people that are truly looking out for you.
I do agree that people should not be going to jail for weed but the current legal system they are trying to implement is just making way for one big monopoly.

  15. Ah, we've moved away from discussions of pricing to the old "It's all going to be a big tobacco monopoly with chemicals and stuff so don't legalize it!" argument, complete with claims that I think mom & pop are the bad guys or something. Not sure where you got that from.

Of course, I've seen this argument a million times before from drug war profiteers who fight against legalization. It's a decent attempt at confusing people who don't know any better, but at the end of the day, people will still vote to end prohibition and legalize it, so I'm not terribly worried. Mom and pop will play by the same rules as everyone else, and lots of consumers, myself included, will buy from mom and pop because we care about quality organic product, and because we don't care to enrich big pharma or big corporations. That's the lovely thing about having choices! There are a zillion beers, microbrews and what have you, and it'll be just the same with weed. The idea that everyone would somehow be forced to smoke some Marlboro monopoly product or something is idiotic and without evidence or even common sense.

Anyway, bear in mind that Amendment 64 and i-502 are just the 1st step in legalization. Every state will have its own rules, but the market price will be more or less the same across the country. As it becomes more broadly implemented in more and more states, the rules will be relaxed, especially once the federal government gets off the states' backs.

In the meantime, grab all the cash you can, because Northern California's weed growing economy days are numbered.

  16. Thanks, cool concept, will share. A politicians stance on cannabis shouldn't be the primary deciding factor because ulterior motives may be at play. But it would be very helpful for people to see a concise list of a politician's history in regards to policy involving cannabis.

  17.
Thanks! We need people willing to look through the people running for office in their home state, and populate the database.

  18. Why would you bother building such a system for a system of government that is so broken?
If you hadn't noticed, their positions on ANYTHING are subject to change at a moment's notice depending on how much it will net them in their pockets.

There kind of is such a system already. It tracks donations to politicians and whom/where they are coming from.

(And not surprisingly, the top donors for Dems and Reps are often the same. They hedge their bets and win no matter who "wins" the elections.)

    Best of luck, anyway.
