Does anyone have the Mars 2 LED lights?

  1. Hi,
I'm looking for someone's opinion about the Mars 2 lights who's NOT a lgledsolutions sales rep!
I've heard they run hot and some have had trouble with the leds burning. i was also told they use  epsitar LED's and this is what i came across online...

CREE and Epistar are the type of Chip / Driver that is used inside the
LED bulb. The difference is simple…quality! They are ALL manufactured
overseas. CREE is based in the USA, designed in the USA and set the
standards for the HIGHEST Quality LED! CREE is by far the leading
innovator of lighting-class LED's…period! This is why their prices are
much higher then other brands, but they do last much longer.

    CREE: 100,000 hour Life Expectancy
    Epistar: 50,000 hour Life Expectancy

Epistar LEDs are made in Taiwan and will have a very good perfermance at
the first stage being lighted on. Its brightness is roughly 30% less
than an equivalent CREE chip. However, that is only a lie. After 1000hrs,
you will find the truth. They will fade. The warmwhite color is changed
to an ugly color, because the bad fluorescent powder being used when
    package.

So of course the sales rep says they are the same light (without the brand name) as BlackDog but we all know that China will make clone product that's not half as good and sell it for half the price.

  2. I have never used but you might want to check smokesara trend right below yours I'm pretty sure she sells them and there are a lot of customers on there that might be able to help

  3. That's my issue, I don't want a sales rep's opinion. They'll tell me what I want to hear to make a sale whether the light is good or not. The light does sound like a good deal but I've soooo many bad experiences with the china cheaper version! PH tester's, PPM testers, pumps... It always seems like a good buy but once you actually get use a brand name that's when you see the difference. It's the same principle with tools... The china made ones look the same for half the price or less... But when you to use them they usually make the job harder to do properly.

  5. Is LED a good source of grow lights?  Are they better than HPS?

  6. I just bought the reflector seires 96x3watt by lgled.. to flower my plant.... im not a rep.. I havent recieved itt yet but when imdo ill let u know what I think about their quality.... im running a small scrog two months in she xant wait for her new flower light...

  7. Good question. Why can't anyone answer about these mars 2 lights besides the 3 same people in the top led thread. I was gonna order 2 of the 700 w mars lights, but have postponed purchase since no one can chime in a real thread here. So does anyone who is not a top led or lg led employee or someone not feeding from the top led boob of marketing have any info about these lights?

  8. Seems like nobody wants to be the guinea pig..

It would be cool to have a company buy, test, and review eh? Like a TechRadar but for LED grow lights - anyone wanna fund that project?  :ey:

  9. I have a 192x3, I don't have one of the 5w lights.  I replaced a 250cmh and am happy.  There's pics somewhere of my first grow with em.

  10. I am buying some kind of led light come Saturday. I am sooooo curious about these mars 2 lights. I have actually been "adding to cart" daily, but then hesitate and get quite nervous about the fact that I just can't find any solid info about these lights. You ask about a "solar flare" light and you will get answers. U ask about the mars 2, and you either get no answer, or you get answers from basically the same three people. One is a company rep, and the other 2 I suspect probably got free or highly discounted product for their reviews. No disrespect to anyone, just saying , the same three people will answer. And on other forums answers are from a poster with like 3 posts all of which are in the the post you are reading. Even the link above of the mars 2 journal only had 3 fuzzy pics, no end results and got hijacked for another led light. Its d-day Saturday, I have 2 options I am leaning towards. One being a higher priced, name brand light. I will leave it "unnamed" as I am only curious now about these mars 2 lights. And my second option would be 2 700w mars 2 lights or 1 1200wars 2 light. Sounds like 3 options, but its only 2 because I am only debating between the "brand name" and mars 2. Not afraid to spend on the brand name one, but as anyone, would love to save 1000+ dollars if I can. So, I guess this is my last attempt to get any info from anyone actually using using these lights.

  11. There's a bunch of people using these lights on several diff sites.  Do your own research.  I did mine and that was many months ago, even more avail now.

  12. I've had 2 mars 2 700w lights for about a month and some change, in my opinion the lights work fine I've just noticed LED plants grow shorter. Shorter isn't bad though as all the plants have very tightly spaced internodes and are extremely healthy. I've cut down not only my electric bill but also water and nutrient usage. Overall I say good buy I got them a week after paying. Hope this helps as I'm just a grower like you and this is a growers opinion.

  13. Yeah me too. I have LED in my veg tent and they love the LED's but I only veg till they are 18" or so tall and about that big around.
3 weeks usually from a well rooted clone.

  14. Hey, I'm kind of new on this forum but I have used the Mars II LED's. Ill put it this way, they are ok for a entry level LED for a cheap cost. I ran them for 2 grows, 1 was mixed with a ceramic metal halide and my buds came out great, even slightly more frosted than normal. I just finished a v-scrog with 3x Mars II LED's their 400w model and overall the buds smell good, are dense, but not as large as grows I have done in the past. Now to be fair, it may not have been all the light because I was trying a few different things with my soil this grow, but overall they grew some decent buds for a cheap LED light.

My complaints... the fans are extremely loud...much louder than an overclocked computer fan. They also throw out quite a bit of heat. The problem with all LED's right now is that they vent the warm air into the grow area, without a easy method of extraction, so pretty much every LED will heat up your grow area to some extent, but I can honestly say running about 600w of Mars II LED vs my 1000w of HID, the LEDs run much hotter and my fans have to be turned up much higher than before with HID and air cooled vents.

I also have used their reflector series for veg using the Gas Lantern Routine and it does save power over HID, but the growth rate of my veg also went way down and so it takes much longer for my plants to veg under their reflector series.

I am currently testing a new panel by a company called Intelligent Gro and so far I am very impressed with the lights, much more advanced, with programmable technologies. Its like comparing a toyota to a lexus with these lights vs the Mars II. Id suggest checking them out, there pretty bad azz..!

  15. I'm in the same position. I get all set to pull the trigger on the Mars II 400w and then read something bad about them. Makes me want to hook up eight CFLs and call it a day.
    OT

  16. I have the 700.

Overall I like it. Its my first grow with it, and so far I have no complaints about this light specifically. It's roughly the same actual wattage compared to the 400w hps it replaced, but is is much brighter.

LEDs in general; however, need a major makeover. Heat is more of an issue than I thought it would be.

  17. C'mon, Intelligent Gro! Seriously!? I have to create an account and give you my name, address, phone number, etc. just to see the prices of your gawddam lights? You are out of the running! GRRRR!

I love these leds! I purchased the Mars ii 900W led online, I was kind of worried about the price diff because Blackdog and Lumigrow go for so much more $$$, this one was around $300-$400. I was worried about buying from chinese manufatuerers because people say don't "there may be bad one's idk". The reason I went with Mars ii is because of the warranty 5yrs! I had planned on using a "600w mh"  in a 4x4 tent for veg, then swap over as the company recommends, to the led for bloom. I wanted to start them off a little earlier to get them adjusted, I didn't want them to burn right up going into bloom. I had read that these leds run hotter than you would think, they seem to market it like you can just put a desk fan on it and cool it off. Some people had complaints that it burnned their plants. It does get hot, not near as hot as the MH, but def heats up the tent. I use an inline 400cfm w muffler to blow air into the tent from outside the room, cools it down to about 78degrees, which im ok with. I knew that using led's you can lower the light a bit to get more intensity, but had read these lights were burning leaves, so I set it about a foot and a half away "ended up being a good distance", perfect even. When I look at the led light, it does seem brighter even though it pulls around the same. So bright when I leave my tent, I can't see proper colors of lights and objects "i wear shades too"! The plants love it, the reponse was right away "2 or 3 days", all the plants got very dark green, and healthy. The quility of the light is WAY better than I had hoped. I thought it might be flimsy or dinky but its very durable, the metal used for the housing is strong, "not flexable" the light is kinda heavy and is very very sturdy. I wanted to get an LED but was worried about spending a lot, not knowing what kind of change/gain I would have or even if it is worth it. Idk if its worth it to buy a $2-3k blackdog but this Mars ii is AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! I may just use this led next time for veg and bloom! I took pictures of the grow, I can post it if requested. I just wanted to ease the minds of buyers... This IS a great LED!

Also, My LED is their 5W Chipset model, I wouldn't use anything below 3watt, just an FYI

  19. Too much controversy for me to squeeze the trigger. I see a lot of posters with 1 post, love em, grow good bud blah blah, till I see JJ or Yoda post that shit, I'm sticking with my 600 HPS\\MH. Although I would love to switch if something that worked came along. And I ain't spending 1k + on a set of lights with ballast at 120 and bulbs at 30+, not good dollars and sense to me.
