Thinking about Mothership

Discussion in 'Bongs, Dab Rigs, Bubblers, Water Pipes' started by pdr1030, Apr 6, 2014.

  1. I really really want to buy a mothership egg/seed of life perc but that mother is 4k!!! Should i break the bank? Is it really worth it?!

  2. WTF pricing are you looking at?  Retail should be like 1900 or 2k for clear, worked would prob be like 7-10k.

I wouldn't buy a clear egg for 4k.  I'd wait to get it at retail.

  3. Oh shit really?! That was a close call phew.. Thanks for the info

  4. who was gouging you like that man?  pm me

  5. I can't seem to find them anywhere online they were either out of stock or way over priced

    Who Dat!

  6. Just to be sure we're talking about the same thing you mean one of these right

    for 4 k?

They're hard to get right now, very few places have em.  Off the top of my head the some shops that carry ms:

    Primal in PA
    Gotham in NYC
    Liquid Chrome in Ontario, Canada
    High Priority, CA
    The Cave, CA
    Piece of Mind, Seattle
    Made, Chicago
    I think Wonderland in Fla
    Headies, in WA

They don't make a lot of eggs, but 4k is a price that I just haven't heard of, 2400 is considered a bit on the high side.  4k should be one of a kind collab type stuff.

  7. Yep that's the one. This specific one is from Missouri..and they have it on sale for $3200 which doesn't help according to your info..I wonder why the price is so high?

  8. It's probably why they still have one for sale.

  9. don't drop more then 1900 or 2000 on one. mothership hype will pass

  10. True that..ill just look for quave

  11.
If I really really wanted one, I might go up to about 2400 max just to get one.  It seems they are making fewer and fewer of these and moving to making fab straights.  I doubt the pricing is going to go down from around 2k, whereas something like EA recyclers and elbo dinos, I think they got hyped up and I think those prices could come down, especially in the used market...simply because there are more of those than MS eggs.

Last time I asked about a quave is was 10k.  So if you can't get one at "retail", be prepared to pay a real high premium.

  12. At least quave is sure choice

  13. About 2k. I've seen straight fab egg go for closer to 1k.

The eggs are difficult to make shape wise. Also everything is made in house so they are trying to recoup the expense of their tools. One being a really expensive laser guided wet saw for those perc holes.

  14. 2-4k on any piece sounds dang crazy to me, id maybe at most drop 500 on something for functionality if i wanted to splurge, if im paying beyond that i better be getting something pretty damn awesome that's worked.

Mothership, especially a fab egg is a better buy than like 99% of the headies out there in terms of finances.  For the most part, if you're buying things in the 2k+ range, you're going to take a loss if you try to resell it.  Someone bought a coyle X calm piece for at least 4k, I see it for sale now at 2500.  But a mothership fab egg will hold it's value.

If you can get MS, I think you should get it now and hold the fuck onto it.  I've seen some new stuff from MS, and I don't like it.  I think they're going to be one of those companies that everyone talks about the old days.  I don't like the sandblast M label I saw on a piece recently.  Also some of their top names left the ship (Quave, punty, dosa, tfunk etc).  I see too many fab straights lately too, now, some would say it functions great which is why they're making them, my opinion is that they look easier to make than a fab egg or klein.

If I saw a shelf full of eggs at retail pricing at my lhs, I would buy every single one of them to flip.

    @[member="Mysteryman"],
they use a laser guided saw?  i thought those percs were cut with a laser like on a cnc type machine.  I understand the argument about difficulty to make and all, but fab eggs were like 1300-1500 the first 6 monthes they were out (maybe longer), they cost just as much to make now as they did back then.  Really they just wanted to see what pricing the market would bear.  And I'm fine with that cause they had dope artists, but for them to charge more now, without quave, dosa, and the guys who left the ship...I'm not really cool with that.  Lower quality for mo money.  If you have mothership from the earlier days when the whole crew was intact....my advice is to keep it and wait to see what direction MS heads in over the next year.

  16. IMO if you want to spend 4k on glass don't even fucking think about buying a clear piece. Buy a real heady.
