big bang theory love/ hate

Sorry to hear about that man. Seriously hate that show though...

The laugh track drives me crazy. It's so goddamn loud.. and annoying... and it goes off like 24/7... even when nothing funny happened. Like half the show is just laugh track.. it's crazy.

And it's just so.. ignorant of everything nerdy... like it tries too hard and gets shit wrong because of it, you know? Like the episodes where they flat out name popular MMOs, and yet all the jokes they try to make about them get the details wrong and pretty much all the game lingo they use is completely incorrect... just silly really, anyone can see the writers have no idea what they're actually talking about and are just going off stereotypes, you'd think if they're gonna write a show about something they'd try to get their information right at least.

Oh well   I'm watching House right now 'cause all 8 seasons just got on Netflix and I haven't seen like 4 of them. It's got some funny ass dry humor, but it's mostly medical, so it's probably really boring if you're not into that.

Let's see... Recently I guess I watched An Idiot Abroad and it was pretty funny. The first episode pissed me off 'cause he seemed really whiny, but it definitely got funnier and it was interesting too. Louie was okay... Archer is pretty alright... I dunno.

 

Love and hate for me too, surprising to say.

For one, it's an actual live audience, no laugh track. But these types of comedies are becoming extinct now a days, for good reason.

But the show starts off great, despite not always being on par with references but that's going to happen in a niche topic like this. But by season 5, it just became dull and cliche. I still watch it for entertainment and to see these characters I enjoy, but the quality of the writing has just gone downhill. During 2012 season, things started to pick up again, but this recent season just hasn't been all that good.

 

BBT is alright. Laugh tracks annoy me too, but sitcoms would be weird as hell without them.

Hate this show. Watched two episodes and that was enough. I laughed maybe once, and that was it. Kaley Cuoco is the only good part, and I want to punch that one guy (Helberg) in the face.
 
Chuck Lorre made a living off shitty CBS sitcoms, and people watch. Maybe they are the idiots.

my woman looves the show, i dont hate it, but the comedy sometitmes just isnt for me. like too many other shows, the audience or laugh track, whichever it is, gets annoyingg sometimes. cracking up at the smallest of jokes...plus the show gets a little too dictionary on me....feels like a school classroom and i hate being reminded of that lol.

 

All love from me.... I can't get enough of it. I try not to be one of those guys who thinks everything should be written better/made better/presented better.... I try to just enjoy the shows for what they are. That show in comparison to many others of its kind is just... well there's no comparison. Big Bang keeps me smiling and thats why I like it.

I used to like it, but the writing got lazy, and the jokes started to fall flat.

The trouble is, there's too many kinds of nerds, and the writers of the show are trying to make their 4 dudes be all of them. There's so much to know about the subculture for each thing, that the writers can't research it all, but at least in the begining they tried. They for lazy about it, though.

But people can be nerdy about so many different things, to so many different degrees. Just because someone likes WOW doesn't mean they'll be into DnD (let alone GURPS) and comic books, and anime, and the whedonverse, and be into LARPing and have the periodic table memorised.

Also, I hate how the 3 girls on the show got turned into such flat boring characters. They all started out more interesting than they are now.

 

I've watched quite a few episodes and laughed but I wouldn't say I'm a big fan of it. I can't stand Leonard for some reason which is another thing that put me off.

 

I love/hate it, too.  I have big problems with the portrayal of women on the show, specifically women geeks and how male geeks interact with women (geek or no).  But so many things, especially in the first few seasons, were like, "holy shit, I seriously know ALL THESE PEOPLE!"

 

Oh and to demonstrate how very much I feel one with the geeks on the show, when I saw this title, I was like "oh yeah, I was just thinking about this show during that panel yesterday!"  The panel titled "Liking Problematic Things" at the science fiction convention I'm posting from!
