just ordered one since no shops around me carry it i know its better than inhaling butane or lighter fluid gasses but what are the other pros
you can really corner the hits, with a smaller flame than a standard bic or lighter, it burns the herb less and you can toast it almost. tastes much better as well, and i seem to not get as sticky and nasty of a resin on my bowls and slides.
For me, mostly taste. I tend to purchase the thinnest I'm able so the flame is smaller and the taste almost unnoticeable.

something similar happened to me, took a hit off my bong and thought that i had put beeline out, set beeline down, cleared my hit, exhaled, left the room. came back about a minute or two later to see a fire on my dresser, about 14-16 inches tall...wtf'd and then put it out with a towel. come to find out, my not only did my roll of beeline obviously catch fire, but my small plastic grinder which made the fireball worse...was about halfmelted into my dresser when everything was said and done lol.

You'll notice the taste is way, way better and fresher, from not using butane. I don't know if theres anything thats conclusive that says its healthier, but I'd argue with anyone that said it was not healthier than a lighter. I've definitely burnt a small hole in my pants with that shit though, a couple of times and make sure you put it out with finger and thumb, after you blow the flame out. Or you'll waste a lot of wick

hemp wick is worse for you cuz its coated with shit a lot of the time and its just more carcinogens burning. a simple bic might leave the taste a little butaney but none of it actually travels into your lungs, its all evaporated as long as theres a flame, and if not it shoots out at -20 celsius and freezes, so its not going to travel to your lungs. the reason you can taste the butane is because the flame is made of butane
This is so ignorant, hempwick consists of organic hemp coated with organic beeswax, nothing harmful about that. Butane is proven to be harmful to you, and hempwick lets you taste the flavors of the buds better. Please research before you make an invalid statement. OP, don't listen to this guy hempwick is awesome and will let you have cleaner and less harsh hits and as I said above, allow you to taste the weed. It's only 2$ for a pack that lasts a month.
ive never seen anything that has any proof that butane is bad for you but if you cite some sources ill believe you. im just not a big fan of hemp wick and i usually use a bong anyways
Butane lighters are not toxic at all. What inside it its pure butane distilled and compressed from petroleum. The combustion of butane doesnt give any nasty products, dont worry. the combustion of butane and all other alkanes hydrocarbons follow a very simple formula. 2 C4H10 + 13 O2 ------> 8 CO2 + 10 H2O So.. up here is the balanced formula. As you can se butane(C4H10) needs oxygen to start combustion. The end of reaction results in formation of carbon dioxide and water! Hehehe....see?...nothing that bad! Have ya ever tried (when u are playing around boered) putting the lighter flame next to a cold window glass? You will notes that above the flame touching the glass some vapours are condensing on the window. Those are water particules tha cime from the combustion reaction! The carbon dioxide(CO2) since its a gas escapes and diffuses in the air. SO........ Again...combusting butane isn't toxic at all. you could inhale the vapours formed from combustion and nothing bad would happend to you. All alkanes hydrocarbons: methane, ethane, propane, butane, pentane, dodecane...ect..... will combust in the same way...following the same formula. they will al transfor into carbon dioxide and water. Its useful to know some chem isnt it? Ah...about the lighter flints. No need to worry about that too. Lighter flints are composed by an alloy of iron an cerium metal. The cerium increses the reactivity of the flintstone and give it pyrophoric propeties. The hard scratching of the lighter causes the metal to get hot and to become more reactive and it reacts with oxygen to form iron and cerioum oxide. The reaction forming the oxides of the 2 metals is pretty energetic and fast. This energetic reaction causes the little spark that gives enough detonating energy to ignite the butane and starte the reaction between butane and oxygen. The forming iron and cerium oxide are 2 solids which are completely non volatile....wich means..they dont release molecules spontaneously. The formed oxides just fall down as soon as the spark finishes. those oxides are heavy and quickly follow the law of gravity after the sparkling. No products from from the flint goes in you mouth/joint. So again no need to worry. lighters are completely safe and untoxic. I would rather inform you that weed itself gives you MANY nasty products in its combustion(in microscopic ammounts of course). So far i can name you: hydrogen cyanide sulfur dioxide nitrogen dioxide formal dehyde carbon monoxide acrolein ammonia complex semihydrocarbon compounds and there are many others....... So...to conclude......NO.....lighters do not give toxic cmpounds.
You're retarded. There are plenty of studies that say butane is harmful, a simple google search will show that. And lighters only produce co2 and water? Hold a lighter underneath a piece of glass, look at all the black soot left behind. You obviously do not know chemistry very well, the red flame from lighters means its incomplete combustion, hence you are literally spraying excess butane into your bowl. IF the combustion were complete, then yes the only bi products should be co2 and water, but it isn't. EDIT: plus that post isnt even yours, you copied it from another forum, so fuck off
okay well all the chemistry is right there, and yes i dont know fuck about chemistry but that guy does and i also have common sense and i know unless you sprayed butane straight into an empty pipe and sucked you wouldnt get any in and it could give you frostbite in your mouth and throat because it comes out at -20 degrees celcius so you would definitely know if there was butane in your hit. why fucking argue like im just sayin you have no proof at all and youre bein stupid and i dont even care
