I think they (Fundamentalist's) just found a new and even more deadly "suicide bomb".  It sure gets bigger and longer lasting headlines than a nightclub bombing and takes 200+ innocent lives in the name of Allah.  Airline Pilots aren't exempt from Jihad....they can be just as crazy as the Taliban.  I think this was a test run for more of the same to come.

There is no way this was anything but terrorism.  It only takes a second to declare and emergency and "squak" 7700, the emergency code on a transponder.  It actually takes longer to turn it off than use the emergency code on a 777 or any aircraft transponder.  The aircraft didn't blow up, it was under control by someone who either crashed it into the ocean or it ran out of fuel.

  3. Mostly bullshit written by someone with no knowledge of transport aircraft or the capability of radar over water.

If an aircraft crashes into the ocean most likely it would break up...true....but the debris could take months to wash up on shorelines and years to spot once it dissipates at sea.  It's not easy to spot debris in an isolated section of the ocean and it seems fairly obvious that airplane was flown into an area where spotting the debris would be difficult if not impossible to spot.  Air France crashed a Boeing into the  ocean, they knew the approximate area but it still took 2 years to locate the wreckage.
