Where are you from? (No, really)

Discussion in 'The Great Outdoors' started by AR Toasty, Apr 1, 2014.

  1. I'm from South Boston. It's exactly how you see it in the movies, really. Boston has some tax deal with movie companies so they film tons of them here. Boston is the new Hollywood. The Town, The Departed, Shutter Island, Fever Pitch, Ted, American Hustle, The Fighter, The Social Network, Grown Ups........ the list goes on and on.
Anyway, Boston is pretty much how you see it in the movies. People really say Caa and Paak instead of car and park. And most people are really rude and obnoxious.

One thing that I find really interesting, though. Actors like Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Mark Walburg are all from around Boston. Whenever they do a Boston movie (and they've all done several), they always wayyyyy overdo it on the Boston accent.  It just sounds fake to all of us. They're from here, but they're trying too hard to sound like they're from here. IDK.

Anyway, there's my "where are you from" story.

  2. I currently reside in Louisville, Kentucky; however I am from Bosnia.

People over there are more family oriented. Wednesdays, fridays, and Saturdays are days people go out. People don't drink as much as here and drug use there is pretty rare. Here, you can walk into a bar and pick up chicks, over there you have to have mutual friends or know em somehow if you expect em to kick it with you.

There, you are either rich or broke, not much inbetween. Gas is like $9 a gallon and even junky cars are costly. If you plan on traveling, bus is the cheapest way.

A pack of marlboros costs about $2.35.

The music varies just like here but the popular thing now is like half techno half ballad type shit which is pretty cool sounding, its hard to describe.

People kind of get along, and kind of are ethnically divided. Every city has its own accent, feel, and sound. Some places are modern, others are like olden times, and few are a clash of both.

Clothing style is dressy/preppy. Everything is fitted, not much bagginess. Chuck Taylor's are popular. Jordans, nope.

We play soccer, basket ball is also a close second in popularity.

The air is fresh, the roads are curvy, lots of mountains, very beautiful landscape.

Traditions are held in high regard.

All in all, I love that place. Its strange to me in a way because my style is more American than anything, but the place has a magical aura about it.

Nah, mate, no copper here. Just a pal hoping to sneak a peek through your window tonight.  :ey:

  4. What are the girls like? I'm in Louisville. I'm getting reaaaaaaal tired of this place.

  5. Im south of the river in Minnesota. Which doesnt mean much unless your from Minnesota. Hate minnesota winters, live through it though. Work keeps me here.

  6.
Try living through a Maine winter

  7. Seattle, Wa. Love it here. Awesome atmosphere.

  8. Recently moved back to las vegas after leaving kentucky. Have lived here once before and didn't explore much then. Now I am of age and it is nice to be able to just hop down to the strip or any of the other casinos and just do whatever. Unlike the area of kentucky I was in where everything close early except wal mart and mcdonalds. Anything fun was a good drive away. And unmentionable drugs were overpowering the area. Glad I left. Just wish the rain would stop here being the desert and all.

  9. Maine lonely ol' Maine all woods up here.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

  13. Miami. Club life is dope if youre into that thing, and everything closes at like 11 am the next day lol.

What i like is the food and beach though. Latin cuisine > everything else.... and i go to the beach every weekend.

Only thing that sucks here is that we have city probs. Rude ass people, over populated, and traffic can be a bitch.... but road rage is funny cuz youll get cursed out in spanish.
