  1. Hey guys, I am a first time grower, But i have grown many things in the yard with family. I am thinking about growing my first indoor grow, and have read all over the forums of how the boxes you by are a rip off and not worth it at all. So I am doing this from the ground up, or the wardrobe closet up.
    \nBox
I am thinking about getting one of these free standing closets from Home Depot Something like this http://www.homedepot...1vZc89eZ1z0tuqa

\nI want to put this in my closet for my stealth grow. I am just curious on what you guys think I should do for light, ventilation and everything else.Any help is greatly appreciated and I am happy to finally be on GC
\nWhat size do you think would be best? Also what lights would you get depending on the box? How are you growing in the closet? What is your set up like? I am curious on all the supplies I will need to make the closet, quiet, odor proof, and growing well.
\nI am thinking about using a hydro system but I am not sure. Can anyone give me some tips?
    \n\nLights
I am thinking about using 2 clamp lights with 60 watt CFL light bulbs 2700k and then change it to 6500k light bulb. I am not sure how many plants will be able to fit in these rooms, nor am I sure how i should mount the lights. I think I read on here that the lights should always be 4 inches away from the plants.

If you think I need more please tell me, I am just trying to get the set up, setup.
\nThen I could also do something like this http://www.ebay.com/...=item23240e4109
    \nPlease give me your opinions
    Growing Medium
    Jiffy Cubes
    \nSeeds
    SR 2.0 or any suggestion
    \nPots/Containers
What Do you guys suggest? I think I am going to use it a hydro system. What do you guys think? Like a Bubbler system or something? I am very open to tips or suggestions.
    \nVentilation
I am clueless right here on what to do. What do you guys think I should do?
    \nThermometer/Hydrometer
    http://www.homedepot.com/p/AcuRite-Digital-Humidity-and-Temperature-Comfort-Monitor-00619HDSB/202260980
\nThis should work fine I think.
    \nPH Testing Equipment
Will this work fine or do I need something else? http://www.ebay.com/...=item2a3a503444
\nIt is from China and I hate stuff not made in the USA but still Just curious. Also am wondering if you guys have any better suggestions.
    \nNutrients and supplements
What do I use if I am using Hydroponics?
    \nQuestions for you guys.
What do you guys suggest for growing. I think I am going to get some jiffy cubes for the start then what next is you guys suggestion? I am thinking about wrapping the inside with Mylar or Foylon.
\nWhat about Deep Water Culture systems? How do you guys feel about those?
Also I am form the South and if I do say Y'all I am sorry haha

I'll re-read the post more to answer better and edit it into this, but I just wanted to get my post in :smoking: Welcome to Cabinet Growing :smoking:

Check out my new cabinet that I've got in my thread going.  I just finished building it and has a veg on bottom, flower on top. So that I can do perpetual and have something in every stage of growth. That 48" wide home depot cabinet is almost exactly the same dimensions to my new cab, 6'4" tall, 4' (48") wide, 2' deep. Split horizontal.  I'm running a 600W HPS with a 6" duct blower in that size cab though.

How will your cabinet be arranged? Small "footprint"? My previous cab had the problem of being really tall, with a 19"x19" floor.  It didn't work for what I wanna do with a perpetual, but a small floor would be fine if you were trying to just run a big plant or two.    Those CFL bulbs are nice ones, I only had 23w, so 60w are pretty hefty CFL's :)  My 26w CFL's were damn near touching the plants at times, and I rarely got close enough to actually light burn them, but it did happen.  So allow some give to the 4" away rule lol.

Mylar and those work great, but can also be a pain.  Because A.) I'm cheap ass and B.) I read into the situation a ton while redoing my cab and I found that Flat White paint works incredibly well too.  I used Flat White Ceiling paint. Not to mention once paint is on, it's just the wall, not something that can fall down if the adhesive gets warm or something...

For soil I'd recommend Fox Farm Ocean Forest , when I was first starting I had it, and it will raise a seedling into a healthy beauty, then by the time it runs out of nutrients in the soil and you start feeding it by hand, it'll have had a good start.

If wanting to do hydro but intimidated/don't have the budget for the big stuff, try out the hempy method! I just started two Hempy's, both Barney's Farm Blue Cheese.  Hempy is just a bucket or whatever with a hole big enough to stick a sharpie or so through it, about 2" up the side of the bucket.  Then fill it with either straight perlite, or mix perlite with vermiculite (What I did)  And you treat it like soil for the most part, but it's a hybrid hydro system.  Supposedly can do monster plants for easy maintenance. Search around for more info on "Hempy Buckets" if interested. Perlite is crazy cheap too.

I recently got a very similar pH pen, GOOD JOB getting one when you started out, I killed plants for almost a year before getting pH crap under control.  I don't have a TDS meter but they're recommended.  It looks like but I'm not sure, that it comes with buffered pH powder so that you can do the initial calibration of the pH pen but I'd recommend getting some "7.0 buffered solution" for calibrating as needed.

pH pens are VERY touchy if you don't store them properly, so make sure to do so.  Basically rinse it with distilled water (no solids in it or something that can stick to the sensor once evaporated) when you're finished, and calibrate it occasionally. I'm still learning how often I should re-calibrate, I haven't done it yet lol.

The previous cab was two tall sections, intake on the floor, passed through the wall into flower, then out the cab with a 120mm Computer Case fan that was rated at I believe 98CFM.  People say the axial pc fans don't push the air, but they kept my temperatures under control just fine with my CFL lightbulbs.  Just make sure you don't screw them directly to the wood or anything, their vibration resonates through the cab and gets MUCH louder.

The jiffy cubes are good to start with, though I've never used em.  I just put a seed in a shot glass for like 24 hours, when it sinks put it on a paper towel till a tap root pops out, then drop in a solo cup full of soil or something :)

  3. Hey Thertadude! Thank you for the response! And also thank you for your help

I was looking at the Hempy buckets and those looked pretty simple but I was also looking at something like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/SINGLE-SITE-HYDROPONIC-DWC-GROW-BUCKET-SYSTEM-W-pH-TEST-KIT-MAXI-GROW-BLOOM-/191061770580?pt=US_Hydroponics&hash=item2c7c2b4154 And I know I can build a bubble bucket for cheap but that includes everything and I think it would just be easier to get maybe one of those.

How many plants do you suggest I put in something like that? (The Cabinet) I couldn't find your thread, and would love to see some pictures of what yours looks like. What do you suggest I do with the light set up? I was looking to see if there was a better way then the clamp lights but couldn't decide if there was something better. Do you have any suggestions?

If I am using the 60 watt CFL light bulbs how many would you say I would need per a plant?

I decided I probably wouldn't put mylar all over the walls due to it just being a PIA.
I am stuck on two things mainly.

    1) How do you bring air in and out with the ozone thing.
    2) How do you run wires in and out of the cabinet without causing the "seal" (you might call it) of the box and the area around it (Like the smell and light escaping)

Those are the two things that I am really stuck on. It wouldn't surprise me if I am just overthinking things and its very simple.
I would like to know your set up in the Cabinet also. How many plants do you think I could grow in there and get tall and healthy?

    Thank you guys

  4. Can I bump something? Bump
