This will be my first grow ever. I wanted to try to grow out some bagseed I had so that I won't have to struggle with inconsistent dealers and their high prices. I don't have high hopes because I'm not sure how green my thumb is, but one seed has begun to sprout three days after i germinated it in a glass of water and put it in a pot with some regular all purpose potting soil. I decided to try and germinate two more seeds mainly because of the fear of getting a male after going through all this work. I soaked them in a glass of water for a little over a day and when they didn't germ, put them in some moist paper towels in a ziploc to see if that'll work better. The first seed I named Jimmy, even though i'm hoping jimmy is a girl and the two germinating seeds were named Barbara and Carol because I hate those names so i'll be happy to destroy them with my lighter~ <div> View attachment 5805 Here's Jimmy making his way out of the soil, I hope he'll be all the way out tomorrow. At least I hope the image uploads, I'm not too sure how to work this thing~ </div>
Here's how jimmy looked when i first woke up and then about four hours or so later when i woke up from a little nap. Barbara and Carol cracked so that's exciting, i want to put them in pots this afternoon. I'm hoping this grow journal is going to show how possible it is for anyone to grow their own pot, without high quality nutes and fancy lights. Though if i had the money and living situation to set something nice up i would. And if i fail then this will show just how incompetent i am. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
I tried a guerilla grow before but my seedlings were completely drowned in a heavy rain so I gave up last year. I'm trying something similar to yours. Subbed
Thanks for joining the thread man n.n Jimmy has been growing well, i have to rotate his pot every now and then to keep her growing straight since my only light source is the sun outside my window. Barbara and Carol have started sprouting too but for some reason neither of their seed husks are off. I got Barbara's to fall off but the little filmy residue is still there potentially harming the leaves. Any advice on the seed husk situation?
The seeds do that pretty often. Just carefully remove them. The little skin left from inside won't be a problem. Sometimes being stuck in the shell for awhile like that causes the cotyledons to form unevenly, but it's not an issue.
Barbara has it all off her now and carol is almost there. I put some drops of water on them to loosen it up and let them push it off on their own until it was loose enough for me to help.
Photo update of le ladies. They look to be doing alright to me. Does anyone have a timeframe for when they should get their next set of leaves? Jimmy sprouted about nine days ago and the other two are a few days younger.
Theyre stretching for light. You should probably burry some of the stem with more soil. And maybe put them where they will get more direct sun Sent from my EVO using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Alright thanks, i was worried about that. Just getting taller and taller and i'd rotate the pots to keep them straight. But we don't want stretchers so i'll try to fix that
I put my lamp on the window sill and raised up the pots so they could be closer to it and added some soil to them to try to combat the stretching and i have two plastic straws down here in case they need a lil support system set up. Jimmy has her leaves sorta upward looking, is that ok? Is she just reaching for light or could something be wrong?
I've put the girls outside while the weather is so nice to get some sun and wind. All their leaves look a okay now and they're just enjoying the day
Cool Ill be sure to follow this and tag along as well hoepfully ! Be safe out there and out of site is out of mind , goodluck!!
Welcome guys~ I had to put them outside for part of a day and a night because there were guys mulching the front garden right by my window and they were out all night AND IT RAINED ON ME. Barbara and Carol did fine, but i found jimmy with a bent stem flopped over his straw. Maybe if i just had his a little higher <\\3 i've added a second straw to prop him up and promote healing but i had to tuck his baby leaves in too. When do you guys think i should start giving them some 1/4 power miracle gro i have? They're in generic potting soil that has those white nute chunks in it
Looking good. If I'm not mistaken, you want to wait about a month in or until they have grown 4 or more sets of leaves before you give them nutes. At least that is what I read after I had already been giving my first two grows the 1/4 strength mix from sprout. It didn't hurt mine but could have. I do some things by the "book". Others I write my own chapters.
