Hello everyone and thank you for stoping by! I got started in the world of cannabis cultivation about 7 months ago and just cant get enough! Everything was done in regards to DIY and a very low budget, and I think I've come along nicely. But this thread is basically just, "How can I make my cab better?" for cheap/free I started designing a small veg chamber to house seedlings for their first month or so of life. This is where it started. Just an ordinary plastic set of sturdy drawers from Wal-Mart. I fixed it up to this. The first pic was actually of the false front on the drawers with plants inside. This one has the front sitting in the floor, as you can see I did a craptastic job of making them stay in place haha.. (plastic boards hold the drawer fronts together with excess plastic above and below to fit grooves) Empty inside, some (hidden) wooden supports in the frame (I can literally stand on this thing without any worries), have a drawer at the bottom for gardening supplies, but I already have that easily convertable to open the entire thing to a grow space for when the seedlings are bigger. I also have additional lighting I can put inside (CFL/Floros), DIY carbon filter, PC fans etc ready to go in to make it a decent environment. While I have "ideas" on what I'm going to do for most of this project, I'm still completely undecided on how I should go about making it more light proof, and maybe a little more air tight also but I'm not too concernced with the smell of vegging plants. I have two flowering girls that are stinking up my room already lol. I'm also open for any ideas of improvment! If I could afford to go buy some nice foylar/mylar I'd already have this thing done and put together and sealed. But since I started my first seed with intentions of growing for basically free I don't care if it's the best way or not. If there's a way, I wanna try it, or atleast look into it. Also, I have an entire garage FULL of stuff/crap that doesn't get used. I can salvage a LOT out of it, so if anyone has ANY ideas on how I can improve my current "grow cab," I'd love to hear! Honestly, my best idea (currently) is aluminum tape, or something silmiliar just to make the drawers look as if there is no light inside of it hehe. Obviously I'm not the most worried about reflectivity, although more of it is prefered. I also have this closet space that I designed on the CHEAP! Here's the basic design: I know the pics suck and you can't see everything but the only things really out of sight are the exhaust fan in the top right corner that is hooked up to an external DIY carbon filter, and the oscillating fan in the top left corner that blows over the plants lightly. Lol keeping it cheap is the way to go!!! So far you seem to have a handle on it. I wouldnt be to worried about the light leaks though, unless you dont want anyone knowing whats inside the plastic box you rigged up. Hell, go take a look at my box and ive got all kinds of light leaking out!!! Hasnt hurt my grows yet!!! Stay thrifty yo, stay thrifty!!!
I restarted my indoor last fall from scratch with a borrowed 1,000w MH and dollar store planters and miracle grow potting mix. Planted in September and harvested a few weeks before Christmas. So I got about 1/2 pound for $100 investment and I was not even trying hard.. Forget buying fox farm and all the brand named nutes and stuff. Its a rip off.
Being cheap seems to be working so far I think it would be nice to end with a stealth cab, but its not like i really have to hide my plants. For now i think aluminum tape will work for the major leaks so its not so bright at night lol. Ill swing by your grow to check out your grow box, could use all the ideas i can get since i have a feeling I'll be building a lot more handy things lol. Wow thats nice! Yea half what i spent went to ffof lol. Its pricey but worked out good i guess. First grow so i have nothing to compare to lol. About a month or so away from harvesting two 3-footers. Yeah, gotta agree with Snoop. Why pay big $$ for tattoo art on a bottle or a bag?? Because it looks cool?? Lol. Shit, Black Gold soil is just as good as FF if not better and its only $4 for an 8.8 liter bag!!!
