What does the U.S. Military have to say about weed?

Discussion in 'Marijuana Legalization' started by MunchiesMan78, Mar 27, 2014.

  1. Wow I didn't know this was going to become the official firearm owners thread! Lol

  2. Look how the military is used to secure all manner of natural resources across the globe for corporations, and then ask yourself if corporations seem to be anti weed. There is your answer.

  3. Pretty much.

    Ellroy:
If someone carries a firearm for a profession, are they prohibited from drinking alcohol off duty? This would particularly include police officers and soldiers.

Allowing alcohol off duty but not cannabis speaks volumes about someones beliefs. Of course i wouldn't advise mixing alcohol, drugs with gun use. But alcohol fuels anger and aggression whereas cannabis relieves it. The last thing we need are more aggressive cops, trigger and punch happy.

It's prohibited to protect private interests, not you or i.

What is the original question?  Does the VA support medical marijuana?

Obviously if you fail a drug test, you will be kicked out.  The military will be the last one to legalize medical marijuana.

  6. Dude. I'll give your first post a "quote." Appreciate what you Stryker boys could do.

Infantry here, and yea, the strykers are AMAZING machines, lol you can drive them SOB's straight thru cement walls and they will barely slow down. Beasts of a machine as long as they are properly maintained...

The original question was about the actual military ^^

As far as the VA goes, their stand point is simple:: If your state has legalized it, while we may decide NOT to issue you narcotics, it is up to the individual doctor, and there wont be any punishment for you using it.

I also read that there is a new study happening for Vet's with PTSD to test marijuana effects on PTSD

Exactly if you cannot keep your shit together for a period of time in which you have your life and others in your hands then well it isnt the place for you(the military or law enforcement).

  11. wish I lived in an mmj state...  alas.

  12. Actually PTSD was just added to the approved qualifying conditions list this month in Michigan

  13. is it not crazy that they subscribe something( narcotics)  that creates more confusion and uncertainty for PTSD sufferers when cannabis will instantly and certainly let you know it is OK with zero side effects to deal with later on.

  14. I think you might be giving the government a little too much credit.

The study we are discussing isnt on a state level though, its on a federal level, which is a whole different ball game.

  16. If the soldiers were high the probably wouldn't want to murder people. which kinda defeats the purpose of the army(to murder who your commander tells you to).

I been out the military for 8 years now. I consider myself a functional smoker. I have no problems knocking down targets at the range with my 223 stoned. I wasn't the typical solider; I was a cook(Culinary Specialist) so If I could smoke a blunt while I was on the flight deck I would but the military is Zero tolerance. I smoked on leave most of the time and I also smoked throughout my career. I always had a extra piss cup on me so when I did get called I always had somebody around that was clean.

Im out now with good conduct and a honorable discharge. Smoke weed everyday.

In a war zone I wouldn't smoke only because other people would notice I was high and would tell.

Thats the main reason I left the military. I had to smoke everyday.

  18. MMJ does not help for most diagnosed with PTSD. I wouldn't recommend it half the time. The VA hands out so many meds for PTSD and they all throw you on loops throughout the day.

I have a seratonin med that the doctor informed me to not smoke weed with because it can cause negative moody side effects. I believe her but..gotta smoke. Other guys I know with shell shock type of PTSD dont smoke at all. Those dudes will talk you to death and drink you under the table but wont touch weed.

My other friend only has PTSD for the medical benefits and he had to act crazy for the doctor to believe him. He weed smokes all day and they try to make him take the meds but they fuck you up. I am going through the process for PTSD and im getting treated for mainly for what is social anxiety. I have to talk to all these doctors but its worth it when you get disability and healthcare.
