Back in 2010 I had just been released from the Army under "unfavorable" conditions. I had to move in with my Grandmother and Mother....how humiliating. Needless to say my depression reached a place I hope to never go back to. In the Spring of 2011 I started taking classes at my local community college while wrestling with the VA for benefits. The classes just seemed to increase my feeling of complete hopelessness. It was one very early morning math class that I wrote this poem at the desk that was conveniently located at the back of the class. Basic Instinct Broken SoulsBroken MindsTrying Everything Just to Hold on Here we go AgainDon't Give upDon't Give inPick the Pieces up and Start Again An Empty Heart is a Wasteful ThingA Full Heart is a Ticking Time BombJust Waiting for its Chance to Explode Cover the Walls Red with my PainLost Forever like a Single Droplet of Rain -NC \n
Seconds after posting this thread I scroll down and see the official poetry thread.... I really don't think my poem is super, awesome, special, or anything I just really didn't see the official poetry thread.
