How to keep bong clean as new?

  1. I just got a bong yesterday and the bowls already dirty, the perc has some brown on it and I think the main chamber is starting to stain the tiniest amount.

I like clear glass but I hate dirty looking bongs. So far I've been changing the water each time I smoke and cleaning the bowl with a q-tip but its still slowly getting dirty. I know I can wash it with alcohol, but how much will that do? Would an ashcatcher help a lot to keep it clean?

  2. Isopropyl(99%)  Is what I use.  That and coarse salt.  Put small amount of iso in bong, add a few pinches of salt, shake it.(don't shake near hard objects.)  I had my bong over 5 months, use it daily and it looks brand new.  Alcohol swabs are my favourite for cleaning bowls/downstems, takes 2 seconds and is brand new.  An a/c will help, but that will need to be cleaned as well.  a/c should be easier to clean then bong so may be worth the investment.

Providing the iso doesn't get to dirty, I always save my used iso and pour it into an empty iso bottle, never know when you gonna need it.

  3. Yeah ash catcher for sure. Iso and alc works wonders, as does commercial available bong cleaners. My preference is for Iso.

  4. Haven't tried it but heard RezBlock works wonders

  5. It's really a matter of not getting lazy and cleaning it regularly.  If you want to keep your glass as good as new, go and get grunge off super soaker.  It's way better than iso, I don't know anyone who's used both and still uses iso.  Everyone I know that has tried grunge off, has switched from iso to grunge off.

Don't get grunge off on the label, it can damage baked on labels.
Use distilled water in your pieces and after washing your piece with tap water, use distilled for final rinse (keeps it from staining).
I clean flower pieces very regularly, if I use a piece on a certain day, I will start soaking in grunge off either that night or next day.

If your bowl has a label on it, then use 420 rinse and soak or iso.

This is why I suggest grunge off, it makes cleaning so easy that you'll do it more regularly.  When I used to use iso, I would wash my pieces 1 or 2 times a week, and I hated it.  With grunge off...rinse your piece, use a glass stopper to plug the joing and fill with grunge off, let it sit over night, next morning just rinse a few times with water and you're done.

  6. Put a few drops of lemon juice in the water when you smoke. I believe the acidity lowers the PH of the water slightly which helps keep resin off your glass.

I laid on his bed and realized how I am nothing yet everything at the same time. I am just energy.

  7. where can I get a glass stopper

  8. most local head shops will carry one, or any decent online shop, usually under the cleaning or adaptor category if you have trouble finding one, I'll send you a pm with a link

  9. You can get a rubber one from Home Depot. They fit better and don't break if they drop. I broke my glass stopper :(

  10. Your best bet is a carbon catch, it stops all the ash and smooths the smoke. You could get a low quality one for 20-40 or a high end mcfinn for 60+

  11. You can also plug bongs with shopping bags. Use iso and epsom salts don't pay 20$ for some gimmicky glass cleaner.

  12. Ashcatcher or Carbon. Then you'll just have that small piece to clean, instead of the entire bong every time.

  13. i forgot who told me but someone on here said heat up simple green and then pour it in and let it sit

  14. I put a screen in all of my bong bowls. That keeps 99% of the ash in the bowl instead of in your bong

  16. I used 91 percent alcohol mixed with regular salt or epsom salt works too. Then you cover both ends(with a rag or sock)where the the alcohol can spill out. Then shake it back and forth for 3-5 minutes. If everything isn't removed leave it sitting for a few hours or overnight, repeat the shaking. Should look brand new.

  17. Epsom salt is best as it is more coarse than regular table salt.

  18. It's also harder to get out because it's also thicker. I like table salt better personally.

  20. Used a wine glass cleaner for my rig when I cleaned it. I haven't heard anyone else using it but works super well :) ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1398124801.015804.jpg ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1398124751.282004.jpg
