Hi, I have suffered from chronic tension headaches for 20+ years and tried everything that the FDA has approved and some things not like MM.  I am on Desipramine 10mg (day), which is an old school anti-depressant, and Klonopin .5mg (night).   In terms of pain releivers I've had a good effect with Tramadol (Ultram) but the effect wore off in a couple a months and if I take it now all I get is itchy which is no good.

I have also taken anticonvulsants and one named Gabitril worked completely(!) after 4 weeks...but then one day I blacked out and ended up in the Emergency Room psychotic.  It was f**king terrible!

I got my MMC last year and I have tried about 10 strains and I would like to post my results so people can use it as reference and also to ask peeps in cyberspace what they think might work for me.  I don't have lots of money to try every strain known to man, but I'm leaning on trying Afghan Kush next.

I have had moderate results using Sativas.  In fact, my MM Doc suggested I try sativas.   I found a good supplier for Blue Dream and if I was suffering from depression that would be the go to, but it reduces my headache by about 1/4. Blue Dream is very relaxing and euphoric though.  I have smoked 5x more Blue Dream than anything else.

    I have tried

Bubba Haze  ( seemed to wake me up like strong coffee and did have some effect on relieving my headache )
Chem Dawg ( seemed to be like drinking a strong buzzy ale and had some relief properties )
Purple Kush ( make me somewhat incoherent and withdrawn, not really analgesic )
AK-47 ( seemed to really work for headache, but made me a little anxious so I have to drink a strong beer to avoid the anxiety.  I only bought a gram of it but remember really getting into listening to music like my head was relatively clear)
Lemon Haze ( not very enjoyable or effective for head pain...but it could have been a weak batch )
O.G. Kush  ( very strong, but not very enjoyable for me )
Oddysey ( really stoney and somewhat euphoric, but not very pain relieving )
Super Jack (  A very clear headed head high but not very palliative )

I have also tried a very euphoric Cheese strain that the budtender said was "like Blue Dream" which was super euphoric but he didn't write the name of the strain legibly on the vial so I will never know what it was.  The effect was like MDMA...super euphoric...happy happy joy joy....

PJ Budders 150mg White Chocolate   (make me a little anxious but has some palliative qualities.)
Cheeba Chews Sativa ( actually work OK for my headaches but the cost would be like $400 a month which is too much for me)
Cheeba Chews Hybrid Deca Dose ( like an edible form of Chem Dawg - Expensive!)

I was wondering what anybody out there might suggest??!

I'm thinking about trying Hubby Bars with hash oil, but they would probably make me drowsy.

I would also like to try Headband because that's kinda what my headaches feel like...a band or vice grip around my head/neck.

Or maybe Hash?  I have a feeling that Afghan Kush might help from what I've read on the internet.

All in all, I gotta say that medical marijuana is a good idea but somebody with a low income can't afford to try everything at once and then the cannabis only lasts like 2-4 hours and you really got to smoke up your house unless you make edibles.  And then when you find a strain you like you stick with it eventhough its might not be the best for your headache etc...and the dispensary has it one week but not the next....

All in all, I like the euphoric feeling of Blue Dream, but its kind of spacey and I'm happy but not fully functional.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

P.S.  I love the euphoric effects of the sativas I've tried and would use marijuana recreationally if it were "legal."

  2. I spent alot of money at dispensaries trying to find the best strain for my migraines and Blue Dream is probably my go to strain, but there are a few different phenos out there so try them all out.
A White widow ,blue dream salad works well for me.
Platinum Og was so so , kinda helped. I will buy more Berry White soon, has promise for my migraines.
Lately I have been mixing a few strains together with good results.
Some people say indicas help most, some say sativas , some say cbd strains.
I have tried them all and for me its blue dream or a strain simalar, something with a haze in it seems to work well for me.
Good luck and hope u can stay off the pharmas

    Headband Headband Headband!

Hands down the best strain for migrains/headaches. I've been using the BlueBand, a mix of Blue Dream and Headband, it's good, but any really great Headband mix will work. And make sure it's true to its genetics, the strain should feel like your face is melting after you smoke it. It will literally be like the muscles in your head just melt and the tension goes with it.

Im making some coconut caps with it, but I ran out of capsules...I'll let you know how it goes. Im actually getting a bit of a headache now... too much internets today lol

    HEADBAND that acts like one!

  4. Today you will find there is an increasing interest in the use of medical marijuana for treating everything from cancer to chronic pain to tension headaches.  It is used as a sedative, an analgesic and an antispasmodic. Patients who have been using it is giving positive response for headaches.

  5. Any ailment that has to do with head pain, I would definitely go with a strong Sativa strain, im talking upwards of 25% thc +

  6. My suggestion would be veneno from eva seed.
