My secret room.

  1. So after researching grow room kits and scouring forums. I decided to build my own room.
In the back of my bedroom there is a closet for the water heater. uploadfromtaptalk1395090756734.jpg as seen on the right side of the picture.

I have decided to run a wall straight across to the opposing wall. A 10 ft 6 in span. With a depth of 3 ft. uploadfromtaptalk1395091002400.jpg

I decided to split that area into 3 sections. 2 3 ft x 4ft areas. One for vegging, the other for flowering. And a small 2x3 area for electrical panel and storage. uploadfromtaptalk1395091214866.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1395091230765.jpg

    Lumber price approx=50$
Both rooms will be lined in foylon. Which I am ordering this Friday.
The baby room will have a sun blaze 24 t5 light to get them growing. And an old t12 ran on the side for a better spread of light. I plan on using 6inch dryer hose for ventilation attached to a mating fans. uploadfromtaptalk1395091499526.jpg
    Fans ducts and foylon price approx=300$ 4 fans @35$ = 140$ a piece
    100ft roll foylon 100$
    15ft of 6inch duct 20$
Misc I.e. nails plastic washers 20-60$
My flowering room I plan on using 1000watt HP's system preferably from sun systems. ( open to suggestions for a better light and ballast)

I will update as I build on.

  9. Hell yea, never buy weed again. :D

  10. Quick update. I got the drywall up. (Mostly) 35$ including mud screws and tape. Book shelf was 35$ @[member="walmart"]. Heavy duty hinges x3 and a gate latch.
Still need to frame a door to size. So that book shelf overlaps door seam. And the barrel of the hinge is not visible. Can't have an overlap on the hinge side that will inhibit opening radius. Pinch point.

Had a stoner epiphany. I want to have a small motion light installed in the middle storage room along with a small speaker that is attached to a doorbell type pressure switch that plays whatever song or noise i want when i open the door. Need to get medicated and figure this one out. Open to ideas on what to use.

  14. So I've finally got the door/bookcase up. I am going to have to switch the hinges to the other side. Seems like there is going to be a small seem visible and I want that on the least visible side. The reason is it the over lap if the bookcase is pinching the doorframe, witch in turn kills the opening radius. Like its barely a foot and a half. Too narrow.
The latch assembly works like a dream. uploadfromtaptalk1395849760716.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1395849780332.jpg
I switched to steel wire instead of string. Drilled a hole through the door and back of bookcase to run it through making sure it would line up with the bottom of the top shelf. uploadfromtaptalk1395849893631.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1395849912506.jpg I used 6 "L" brackets to attach to door. Couldn't find black so I tapped them up with electrical tape. uploadfromtaptalk1395850018136.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1395850044990.jpg closed... uploadfromtaptalk1395850066421.jpg open.

  15. Looks good TG..how heavy do you think the contents of the cabinets will be? might need  a tiny wheel on the bottom so to  help carry the weight and not bend or bind the hinges when you open it..a ball whl not the regular that will dig in and leave a tell tale rut..at this point if you have a lite put it in turn it on and see if that unit is going to have light bleeding thru anywhere..lot easier to fix that now imo..good progress

  16. How does it handle heat and where did you run the ventilation to?

  17. I bought three heavy duty gate hinges after I mounted the door I put all my weight on it with the bookcase and it opened with ease. But the wheel is a good idea. There are a few points where light peeks through but I have yet to finish all the mud work. Plus each room will have a foylon liner.
As far as ventilation i will be pulling cool from a hole I will cut in the floor which leads to a source of fresh air and I will exhaust it through the roof. Plenty of space for a carbon filter up there.

  18. Also there is a heating and cooling vent near by. I'll tap into that to feed cool or warm air into both rooms.
