too much calcium = small buds?

  1. Ok after an absence from growing i decided to start up again. Growing in coco/perlite mix as i used to i thought everything would be peachy. For the last couple of weeks i've thought shit, buds aren't nearly as big as they should be by now..

They're too bushy and i kind of blamed that for the most part. Until suddenly it occured to me today i have been using hard water, EC .25 whereas i used to use 0.03. I was giving calmag in veg as they seemed to show calcium and magnesium deficiency despite the hard water. Now six weeks in flower, buds are small and it seems almost too late to do anything about it

Would the abundance of calcium have locked out potassium to some extent causing slow growth? They don't show any signs of deficiency, healthy and green looking just the buds are only half the size i'm used to. I'll finish out the grow using cleaner water anyway, but have i left it too late to really get some of the yield i've been missing out on? could i perhaps grow them out longer hoping to achieve an increase in yield? Extra two weeks for example..

Just sucks having to learn the hard way. I knew what the water was like when i started and thought i would just give it a go anyway. Instead of getting good water elsewhere. There are other factors which may have played a part, such as growing them in summer with light on during the day (high temps, bigger temp drop at night) and using nutrients i haven't used before but for the most part am i right to assume its probably the bad water that's caused it?

    cheers

  2. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but too much cal shouldnt directly affect yield but what it can do is inhibit P uptake which WILL affect yeild. So indirectly yes too much cal can affect yield in a negative way

  3. Too much N late in flower for sure will affect bud size better off using Epsom salt with coco, cut out N which calmag has lots.

  4. Too many variables and not enough pictures. You could simply have something like a forum cut of girl scout cookies that just doesn't set big flowers.

  5. This is a forum cut gsc with tiny buds the leaf fade is from the flush.
