  6. I am new to forum and to growing (at least real growing), old timer to smoking after a 20+ year time out... TO THE POINT.
I just finished a Northern Lights Blue Auto, I had a GDP that turned out to be male and figured instead of wasting it why not get some seeds, so I pollenated several of the branches with success. So now I have what appears to be a couple hundred seeds. is it my understanding from what I have read that some of these might actually be, possibly, autos?? Or should I just expect them all to be regular seeds? I know this isn't a perfect science, especially in the hands of a horticulture amateur... but then if you can't use the knowledge that is out in these forums what good are they, right?? appreciate any information, advise etc...

  7. Hey,

Well if you remember in science/biology class, there is this simple procedure used too show the different phenotypes and genotypes. It's called a punit square.

Well we classify the father and mother's traits with letters the capital showing the dominant traits and lower case showing the recessive traits.

Plants that require photo to flower would be dominant trait, and the autos would be recessesive.

So it should look like this, (each parent gives a set of 2)
    F1
    a. a
    A. Aa. Aa
    A. Aa. Aa

So all the off spring would have Aa, so it will not show auto untill the second generation (F2)

F2 (using the seeds you got off F1 first crop)

    A. a
    A. AA. Aa
    a. Aa. aa

The off spring from F2 would have 25% chance to be autos, but it would be 50% if you had a seed from the first parents (the auto) it would look like this if you used an auto breed with your F1

    F2 (auto + F1)

    a. a
    A. Aa Aa
    a. aa. aa

The process can be slow, but if you use the original plant (backcross, to cross with one of its parents or with an individual genetically identical to one of its parents) that has the characteristics your looking to bring out, is alot faster.

Only use the ones showing auto traits after it shows up, it may take till F3-F5 till it is 100% it will be auto, depending on your methods of selective breeding.

Hope I was some help to you :)

  8. The forums won't let me put spaces before it .... Thru off my punit square >.< should look like this

    F1

    ......a. a. (Autoflower)
    A. Aa. Aa
    A. Aa. Aa

  9. This is definitely what would grow from that:
