  1. I'm about to start my first indoor grow and I am only growing one plant.. I have these light..can I use either one of these for one plant or do I need to go out and buy different cfls?

  2. ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1394721627.411408.jpg here they are..

  3. Wont work clf or hps

  4. If you wanna do it right, then you need some HID lighting. MH or metal halide for veg, and HPS or high pressure sodium for flowering.

  5. power cost and heat a problem? then look into LEDs, but don't skimp on them, cheap shit is out there but they 'break' often.

  6. That might work fine to start seedlings off but you are quickly going to need much more light than that

    good luck

  7. i veg seeds/seedlings under 125w ,CFL,,then under 250w son T,,,doesn't cost the earth in power usage ...mac

  8. Oo lord! :) lol reminds me of the good old days 10 years ago when I was just starting to play with growing.. Get a 400 watt Lumatek ballast electronic or the new digital with an open hood or vertical will give you more coverage when you grow a couple more. Plantmax bulbs work fine and are affordable, I recommend Phillips has a new ceramic metal halide conversion bulb (400 watt) that is specific to digital and electronic Ballast for only 55-60$!!! :-D I paid 120 for a GE one a year ago so ya pretty awesome!

  9. Those lights won't work because they don't give off the light spectrum that Cannabis needs to grow. Someone said it may work for seedlings... but not for long.

High pressure sodium, Metal halite, High intensity discharge, and Light emitting diodes work amazing. But you're only growing one plant. CFL's or compact fluorescent lights work PERFECT for small indoor grows. What's the real major difference? The electric bill for one lol the heat is another... they don't get very hot. Warm is well put. But how will it effect your buds? The potency isn't effected. Potency has to do with the strain. The yield in weight is going to be the main difference between using the CFL's and all the other ones. You will get nice, fat, juicy, potent buds just fine by using CFL's, and not to mention you may not see too much of an increase in your electric bill.

The higher the wattage, the better. But all you're really doing is trying to mimic the sun. I believe the sun puts out around 12,000 lumens per day? All you'll really need is (3) 42W CFL bulbs. I think that equates to around 8,000-9,000 lumens which is plenty.... more than plenty for one plant. Keep the bulbs 2-4 inches away from the plant, checking once a day to make sure the plant didn't grow to touch the bulbs. Any further away from the bulbs and it won't have as much of an effect. I usually turn my plants a 1/4 turn every day to try and get even lighting.

This was probably too much, but I hope i helped anyways. Good luck man.
