Considering a move to Washington state.

Discussion in 'Marijuana Business and Industry' started by SkunkyJ, Mar 9, 2014.

  1. I'm looking to move to Washington in a few months. I'm tired of the state I live in and need a new start.

If I wanted to find a cannabis related job; what qualifications would I need, are they easy to find, and do they pay well?

Any good areas to look at?
I'm also interested in a film/broadcast type job as well. Should I stay closer to Seattle for something like that?

I would really appreciate your guys input on this.

    Thanks for your time!

  2. I live in I daho, it blows major donkey dick. I too desire a move to Washington! Getting close to feeling desparate about getting out of Idaho. :S
Geographically I'm thinking I want to live in the middle of Seattle and Vancouver.
Seattle bud in the morning and B.C. bud in the evening "border hopping" party and night life scene!

  3. A new marijuana grow place opened up near Vancouver,Wash. Don't know if they are hiring. It is the fist in the state to get licsence. About 5 miles from my house.

  4. . I doubt you'll be able to get a job relating to legal MJ.

I have no idea about broadcasting but probably either Seattle or Spokane, but probably Seattle since there are way more people in that area (when you include all the smaller cities around it). I guess find where work is...

  5. Buy a taco truck. Do you like tacos? I love tacos, wish I had some right now.

  6. Taco soup actually blew my mind.

  7. What is taco soup???

  8. I'd pick Cali. I live here and have been trying for awhile.. It feels and seems impossible :( the Washington laws are messing it up- they suck. If I could move someplace else I would

  9. Wait wait.. whoa whoa... WHOA! Are you saying to NOT move to Washington?

I was actually in San Fracsico Cali last month and I had a friend who taught me the wonders of, at home deliveries. Where is the best place in the world, to live, for the most relaxed laws?

  13. Ca all day. The govement isn't balls deep into the industie like they are in co and wa. Can a person grow 99 plants in co or wa. I know I can here in ca. Why work for someone. Be your own boss. You won't be doing that in sf.
The only real money is for the growers or the owners. Bud tenders is like working at any other fast food job. Trimming sucks. I pay people for that shit but would never ask a random person.

  14. Are messing what up? I hope it doesn't come off as defensive, because on a personal level I couldn't care less but as a lifelong WA resident who has never given thought to needing to find a new state I'm just curious.

Been here well before our legalization and even back then there wasn't ever much concern about being busted for a simple possession charge. I'm not big on state spirit, but Oregon > Washington? Bah. There are a few firearm laws that almost make me consider it but even with as much as I love my toys it's never been a real thought of mine.

Just curious on what an outsider/new comer has to dislike, not that I think we are without our faults.

I would assume Amsterdam to still be king. Mostly because they have truffles and peyote, which are 100% illegal in all states here (unless you attend the native american church. I'd love to go to one of their ceremonies! Sustainably harvested peyote ftw!). And not to knock on any states here, but I'm sure the bud is just as good if not better in Holland, they've been doin it for longer. But why move someplace solely based on law? I live in the South and don't give two fucks, cause I can just blaze down in my home and no one comes knocking. And cannabis related jobs are already taken, you wont find a good career in WA and their laws are wonky, Cali has expensive ass living, and CO is trying to tell everyone they can't have guns. Fuck that noise.

  16. I've been here a long time.
Yes it's a mess. It was kind of a mistake that we all voted for 502. No you can't grow your own. And they will only allow so much to be grown per year to be sold. Low thc and high prices. Medical was almost done away with, but it's safe for now. The medical laws are old and outdated, too. It's a commercial political convoluted cluster fuck.
    I'm sorry, but it is.

We just need to lobby for private grow laws. We need to start a campaign that says something like "Why waste police dollers to bust a non-violent person with a few plants?" Then cite statistics about how many murderers or sex offenders are loose in washington state or something...

  18. The people of WA voted for a "non-personal cultivation" type of distribution system, the state is foaming at the mouth over the potential taxes, 2000+ people are going to be issued a license to steal and the state has already taken a punch at the med industry to eliminate competition.  How is it that after so many people, myself included, warned about this, that we still have people naively thinking "we just need to....."?  It's law now and unfortunately, I think that's the way it will stay for a long, long time.

  19. Ahh "just" about the law. Plenty fair enough, for some reason I read the post as... well different. Yeah I was perfectly content with the laws I was born into and there was never a moment when I was overcome with excitement about the legalization.

Medical meh. I know plenty of so called patients, not a 1 of them have a truly legit reason. Makes me sad that the MMJ community is such a joke. Its bad for real patients and its bad for recreational users who were hoping a well run MMJ system would show that we aren't all about abusing the system. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
