just looking for advice/opinions on this subject 2 600 watt hps or 1 1000 watt which would be better? I recently purchased a 1000 watt setup and a friend said I should have bought 2 600 watts instead please give me your insight for a 8x8 room ty.
wondering the same thing...? i got a 1000 watt n the same size room but thinking of putting a light mover. I heard good and bad things, but the way I'm looking at its i can get a little more plants out of one light and still have little room to work in... pros and cons
if I do try the double 600 light setup has any used those splitter adaptors where you use one 1000 watt ballast to run 2 600 watt bulbs ? such as this http://www.ebay.com/itm/SunPulse-Splitter-Split-1-1000w-HPS-Magnetic-Ballast-to-2-600w-Lamp-Systems-/120929583544?pt=US_Hydroponics&hash=item1c27f701b8 or this one http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-Hydrotek-Flip-4
I would have a feeling 2x 600W would be better for a couple reasons. First, you're getting 1200W of light instead of 1000W so lumen output should be more. second, you have 2 points of light source, which essentially means you will get less shadow under the canopy. But a light mover on a 1000W would probably have the same effect. But, it will obviously cost more to get double ballasts and bulbs with 2x 600w
I got 2 ballasts + 2 600w bulbs for 2/3 of the price of 1-100W kit lol........ meaning, I can get 1,800W in the price of 1,000W. the thing is you need 3 power sources, and 3 ballasts, and 3 hoods in your tent , not ideal if u dont have the space.
