Best/worst tremolo systems on a guitar?

  1. I know the Floyd Rose is great, my friend's Schecter Synyster Gates custom has one and it's pretty awesome. My Ibanez s570b has a ZR2 bridge and it is just as good as a Floyd, I harassed it with dive bombs and flutters and it stayed in tune perfectly fine. The worst one I've used was some random guitar one of my friends had, I want to say it was a Squier but I don't remember. I just remember having to constantly tune it every time the whammy bar was touched. So my fellow guitar players, which kind of tremolo systems do you consider the best/worst out of the ones you've played?

  3. i dont have any experience with those, almost all guitars i played had fixed bridges but a friend of mine has a cheap gear4music metal x guitar which has a floyd rose copy, my god that thing will not stay in tune, even when not using the trem haha, i'd love to get an ibanez with a zr2 though

  4. From what I've heard only the original Floyd Roses are worth the money and stay in tune well. I'm also looking to get a dean ml as my next guitar. Either that or the dean Dave Mustaine.

  6. I have a guitar with a cheap Floyd rose system that's ehh

I have another guitar with a gold Bigsby B5 that's awesome

Worth all the extra money? Probably not, but I don't exactly regret it either.

  7. Anything with a locking nut should be ok. I've had nothing but good luck with Ibanez. I hate tremolos on fenders

  8. Depending on what you play. If you're all about wanting to be Eddie Van Halen with the super dive bombs, Floyd Rose systems are key. For someone like myself, I love the trem system on my strats. You just need to keep the movement under control, or you may run into tuning issues. My vintage Jaguar also has a great system in it. I'm a Fender person, so I can't see myself using a Rose on any guitar.

Floyds are great, and Ibanez's version of that, the Edge LoPro II or whatever is just as good. I HATEHATEHATE dealing with changing strings or tunings on a floyd though.. id rather buy a new freaking guitar hahaha

I like the vintage strat-style trem if you are just doing lighter trem work, but if you're doing any bombs n shit then floyds are the way to go.

Also no one has given any love to the Bigsby trem which I also like for really light, fluttery, vintage-y tremolo stuff! stays in tune fine if you dont abuse it and your guitar is set up properly. also it looks classy as hell  ;)
AND finally has anyone extensively used the trem system on the MusicMan John Petrucci guitars? Its non locking but supposedly stays in tune extremely well. I've only played with it a bit and it was awesome, but does anyone have one?

  10. I was going to mention the Bigsby, must have forgotten.  Les Paul had one on a LP guitar that he was gigging with in NYC, in his later years.  I don't have one, but if I were going to put a tremolo on a hollow body, or semi-hollow guitar, this would be the one.  People have used them on Tele's, as well.

  11. Agreed changing strings is a bitch on those. I had to change my spring tension and all that good stuff because I got different gauge strings. It was hell because I had no idea what I was doing but I got it down now.

  13. I've got a Floyd rose 1000 series which from what I've read us the Korean version, same materials just made in Korea and it's killer.
