Rand Pauls CPAC 2014 speech shows his true libertarian nature...

Hey Squid, who are the socialist down yonder?

  2. republican - republic
    democrat - democracy
    socialist - society
    communist - community
    capitalist - money

    [technically]

I appriciate what your're saying but Trixman implied that if Paul gets into the WH under the Libertarian banner and cuts the shit out of everything, then people will blame Libertarians for the ensuing entitlement cuts.

My almost question was - wouldn't a real Libertarian also cut the shit out of everything?

Just wondering what he was saying and if I read it right.

  4. what is a true libertarian anyways?

A libertarian like Gary Johnson would submit a balanced budget to congress.

I disagree with his premise anyways. Rand Paul isn't close to a libertarian, and doesn't claim to be one, so we don't have to worry about that. It's so far off, it's a notion not even worth entertaining.

Presidents cannot cut spending, they can only submit  a budget to congress.

The do-nothings in congress are the ones we should be focused on

Once again, he's "claiming" not to be libertarian, because he wants the status quo republicans to be okay with giving him the nomination. He going to say stuff they want to hear and pretend to tow the line because he's a Trojan horse. Once he's got the GOP to accept him, he can show his true colors because he is his father's son, after all.

Uh, no, because Ron Paul ran as a republican too. It's just that he wouldn't tow the line (or pretend to tow the line, as Rand is doing) enough for the mainstream GOP to accept him into the nomination seat.

  8. i dont know. itd be nice to believe rand winning running repub would mean he'd get in there and gut all the cancer and shit..... but i think hed get in white house and feel caught up in all the puppetry , and most importantly [unfortunately] , revive the republican party :(

  9. i wish that he would run with hillary [who im not even all that fond of] as a green party ticket.. i have more faith in that as far as getting shit done

  10.
I think he was trying to draw parallels to what Ron Paul wanted to do, which was make cuts to SS and Medicare etc, AND make cuts to the military, and then use the cuts from the military, to make the transition easier off SS and Medicare for the people, so the military money would help the people off those government programs. But if Rand just makes those cuts without cutting military, then it would be very very hard for the people, and thus people would blame the "libertarians", and basically kill any momentum that was generated.

Nobody's cutting the shit out of anything as I see it.

Even if Ron Paul had been elected, he would have been effectively neutered by the Washington / media / academic establishment.

Washington never moves to smaller government-more freedom anyway. It only expands and usurps freedom. The best anyone can hope for is to slow the growth of government, not that it will do any good in the long run.

  12. That answers my query, thanks.

The GOP, while a piece of shit political party and has been since it's inception, is not stupid. They aren't going to take such a risk, not when there's plenty of subservient people ready to go do their bidding. With all of the "libertarian" support for Rand, it's sending up red flags to elites, special interests, what have you.

And every guy is their father's son, that doesn't mean jack shit.

I have seen no evidence of what you're claiming to be true. The guy is a politician, he wants his own political career. He probably does not want to live in his dad's shadow.

  18. That's a reach, the whole point in the bill is to crack down on Obama breaking his Constitutional oath, and actually, there is the tenth amendment, which states quite plainly that states rights trump federal rights on laws such as marijuana, and in fact Rand himself has used the tenth amendment to push for KY to legalize industrial hemp, which has happened, so yeah, that article spinning it as his being anti MJ is 100% bullshit.

  19.
He does not support legalization, which in my book means he's a stupid fuck.
