Rand Pauls CPAC 2014 speech shows his true libertarian nature...

  1. Still not completely sold on him, but he would be the best option for the Republican nomination.

  2. He is a curious one.

On one hand, he support Romney over his own father in 2012.

On the other, he might just know how to play ball, unlike Ron who would not compromise, which ultimately made him be percieved as fringe.

  3. The way I think of it, given the usual option of choosing the lesser of two evils, I wouldn't go so far as to say he is good, but I'll at least give him the credit of not being an evil choice, maybe more like a neutral choice, but by any means, far better than the usual Bush/Obama clones. I just have a hunch that his lack of being evil means the actual PTB won't let him be the nominee on the RNC ticket, because they wouldn't have the control over him they want from a candidate.

  4. He's a doll

  5. Aqua Buddha speaking at a PAC proves he's nothing but the same old song and dance.

  6. Rand is just another politician--I've always been skeptical since the beginning, and he continues to prove my skepticism was well placed. Rand has endorsed Romney. Supported sanctions on Iran. Supported sanctions on Russia. He doesn't support legalization of recreational use. Perhaps most importantly, he doesn't talk about the underlying philosophy of libertarianism in his rhetoric, as his father did. Further still, he's even said himself he's not a libertarian: "They thought all along that they could call me a libertarian and hang that label around my neck like an albatross, but I'm not a libertarian..."

  7. As a Republican, I agree.

I think the best option is just to pull out entirely and rethink why they are allowing a bunch of white knight idiot Christians ruin a political party rooted in preserving personal freedoms.

  8. I am worried about Rand. A lot of ppl think he is his father but more centered, he is not his father.

I worry Rand will win. Then he will cut the shit out of everything(except military). Then ppl will blame losing their entitlements on the Libertarians hence killing the liberty movement and restoring the single(two party) system.

A wolf in sheep's clothing is how I see it.

  9. TPTB are very good at their jobs if they still got people thinking rand paul is liberty/libertarian-friendly

gosh, rand paul and libertarian in the same sentence

    Time to vomit

  10.
Are you saying a true libertarian won't "cut the shit out of everything"?

  11. it's called rhetoric.. there is no true libertarian nature with this guy, and if there is he will use it when convenient but still tow the party line to get votes.

he's a slick politician.. he is not ron paul.

  12.
depends on if he gets the nomination or not..

nice, ethical politicians don't get nominated to run for potus.

I think this might be the case, it sounds far more plausible than the view some people seem to have of him.

  15.
Why the comparison? Because Ron Paul set a new standard--he raised the bar. And Rand has been falling quite short of that standard. Rand Paul is regressive, rather than progressive. He should be setting an even higher standard than his father set, but instead he's lowering it.

Not that I'm all that disappointed, or surprised, as I never really had any faith in him, or the political process, anyway.

  16. rand paul or any one that gets elected president is not going to cut jack shit

ronald reagan, the conservatives wet dream, tripled spending during his presidency
as did conservative george w BUSH

  17. No matter who makes the ballet for the next election, I will still be voting socialist :smoking:

Hate it all you want, I know the media loves to demonize socialism, but  regardless of common stigmas I want to see proportionate taxation and the money from that taxation going towards public services such as healthcare, job security/unions, education, infrastructure maintenance, and most of all I want to see the fall of corporate dominance by regulating how much profit an industry can make by restricting the percentage of price increase over labor/material value. And of course taxing the fuck out of corporations and the super wealthy, a billionaire will still be plenty rich if they pay 60% tax rates. If the rich pay their share of the taxes then maybe the middle and working classes can actually have some incentive to pay their fair taxes as well (by fair I mean proportionate to income).

Huh? The roots go back to Lincoln, probably the most ruthless, tyrannical president we've ever had. And there is nothing whatsoever in the modern GOP that has anything to do with personal freedoms aside from their rhetoric.

    Their record betrays them.

  19. No party offers anything besides their rhetoric these days.
