A 9 News Australia reporter just talked about the situation in Russia sparking "fears of leading to a third world war". That's a pretty serious claim. You don't just say that on the national news lightly, unless there's a reasonable chance it will happen. There is no official starting point of a world war, slowly the situation will escalate and more countries will be drawn into it. "Some will say that we won't have a world war over Ukraine." We had a world war over Poland. "Some will say we've had plenty of other wars which didn't turn into world wars." This is different. This is a direct threat to both the US and EU. Russia wants Ukrainian sea ports, and they seem to have a majority of support in the western part of Ukraine so they will probably get 2/3 if not all of Ukraine.
