Vertical Grows Forum?

  1. Hi all, having recently had the opportunity to have a look around at various forms and gathering sites related to our noble cause, I find that 'Trees' and especially 'Vertical' growing forums are popping up everywhere.

In fact, this is the largest forum without such a section.

If you'd be so kind as to add one, press consider placing it as a subforum beneath 'Medical Marijuana', right alongside Micro Grows. I believe it belongs there more than anywhere else because it is neither an advanced technique (I DON'T top my plants... Revolutionary! LOL), nor is it specifically related to any substrate style or size; they work great big or small, hydro, organic or whatever ya got, lol. The only place they don't work? In the dark, maybe? Cuz they definitely work outside and in greenhouses...

This is a technique on the verge of becoming mainstream. I personally aim to publicize its use as much as possible across every forum I can, because I believe in its ability to save our industry and growers a fortune in energy costs- and in the process our environment.

So, there are larger issues at stake than convenience.

Do this, and I promise I'll bring some real fireworks to kick things off! Like six foot tall trees making as much as two # apiece, shooting for 2gpw- with thouies- and even crazy stunts, like seeing how much yield can be gotten out of small spaces like cabinets, closets and bedrooms!

Please feel free to contact me if you like. I set my alerts to email me with notifications.

  2. all it has done on other forums is cause contention thanks to vert braggarts

  3. probably better left to just the advance growing section

  4. The trouble with being it in advanced grows is that no one will ever see it.

The trouble with excess hype is that not enough people are doing it and getting tall world numbers to discuss- only, I guess it's okay if it's LED... but not if it's vertical.

The point being that vertical growing is very inexpensive and does not require a large investment in soil or fixtures. Because of this, there are feet advertisements pushing the approach. Simple fact is that if you want to sell a sheet metal box at a big markup, you don't talk about vertical!

  5. ^^ty for proving my point^^

  6. All I can say to the above is that other forums are seeing lots of innovation in vertical grows, in large part BECAUSE THEY HAVE A COMMON SECTION TO FIND ONE ANOTHER.

I thought working to build community was your job, people? How often DO you get asked to create a new forum these days- or is the task just too much to bother with anymore?

  7. It would definitely be a great way to increase collaboration between the people planning, attempting, and harvesting vertical grows.  I don't think it is all that advanced at all.  It's just a way to hang your lights.  One thing is for sure, it would better the site as a whole.  If people don't like t "braggarts," ignore them.  If people like hearing stories of braggarts, follow them.

So, GrassCity control!, Admin! Please add a vertical forum.  It can't be too difficult, and it would definitely attract more attention to the site.

Ok I'm new to this. I take it that vertical grows are where you let it grow without topping it correct? Thats how I enjoy growing my sativas outdoors.

  9. What exactly is a vertical grow?

  10. Yea, vertical growing im guessing is either growing weed outright naturally, or like on the tv show Weeds where they have that box that opens up and theres plants lining the walls about 2 ft apart from top to bottom and in the cieling in the middle of the box they have thier growlight. Haha hard to explain.

    buds, bitches and bandos :)

  11. WOW! My updates aren't following this.... Vertical growing involves hanging the light vertically in the center of the foliage.  The most common application of vertical growing is when you place circle screen fence around a light and place different numbers of plants outside the perimeter of the screen.  The screen restricts the plants from growing into the light AND it helps spread the plant out in a way which increases budsites.  Vertical growing can be used with or without training, and has shown GREAT improvements in yield vrs. traditional overhead lighting.

Think of a "scrog" type of grow, then stand it up vertically and multiply your growspace by 3.14.   All with the SAME light.  A 4'x4' growspace is 16 sq. ft. when going overhead.  A 4' round x 4' high "silo" has a grow space of 50.24 sq. ft. when hanging the light vertically.  Very efficient use of lighting.

I am currently piecing together a budget vertical grow with a 400wattMH for veg and a 1000wattHPS for flower.  Come check it out... it isn't much yet, but AS all goes well, it'll show the benefits.

  13. I have a vertical mount 1,000w MH and a 400 w MH That I dont use right now. Id like to do a vertical grow once I get the old heating oil tank out of my basement. It would be a great spot for an experimental grow.

I seen a vertical spiral flooded tube NFT set up that would be fun but real costly to make.

  14. Here is my start-up vertical journal.  I trying to attempt it a little differently then most.  I had reasons I never tried it before.  I am trying to solve those problems and possibly improve on vertical methods I have seen pay off.

I am actually expecting a 1000 gram minimum goal.  1 gram/per watt.  I have researched and heard of yields in excess of 3 grams/per watt with these methods.

Check out this guys journal... he is just now harvesting big time, and you can see how much his yields can be improved upon at the same time.

  17. One of the blades the resources should pioneer this grow style and give us grow journal! Then we can branch from there and do it cheaper and better with time
