LED LIGHTING SUPPORT

  1. Lets get a better understanding on here of how many plants we should be running off of each of these products:
    Diamond Series DS XML 150/350
    SolarStorm 800w/400w

People are criticizing brilliant techniques of a great product over the improper dispersement of lighting.  :bongin:   :hello:  :hello:  :hello:  :gc_rocks:

  2. Debating on purchase of the Diamond Series vs the Solar Storm.
    Space looks roughly 3.5 x (10-12) ft.

I am wanting to fill my space with plants but i'm not sure which product i should get for all the space i have.
Or how many of each i need for my space and how many plants to run off of the light I am receiving may be the better question.
    :metal:  :ey:

  3. I own the Solar Flare 200W in a 2x2 ft cabinet and love it! I've been getting great yields and quality for over a year now and absolutely do not regret the 400$ I put in that light!

Both Advanced Led Lights and california Lightworks are good lamps IMO, I will probably be buying a Diamond series or XML series from advancedLed when I do my expansion.

They both have there advantages, Solarstorm uses 5W leds but don't have secondary lenses, Diamond series uses only 3W diodes but they have good secondary lenses which I have read, that is the key to good penetration on a LED light.

I've seen some tests that Advanced led has done with a DS200 vs a SolarFlare and the DS200 seemed way brighter! but both are really good.

For your application, I would tend to go more with a Diamond series, but only because of the shape, they are rectangular instead of square so in your narrow but long grow room, you might be better off with the diamond series.

Also, I don't know if you've worked with LED lights already, but put a couple of CFL in there to get some white light, before I put some in I used to get huge headaches from my eyes adapting to a purple light to white light in my bedroom. Once or twice didnt do much, but when I was working in there for hours and made the switch more than 10 times, the headaches would set in pretty quick!... but this might not affect everyone... :p

  4. the room doesnt have to be rectangular, its in a pretty big attic with ventilation and thats just basically the middle giving me plenty of room to work. If the light doesnt cover as much room as i need for my plants, then ill need more square of an area @[member="yomandude"] .
How many plants should i run off of certain lights? Ex. DS200 or bigger diamond like ds xml 350?

                :poke:

  5. a number of plants Under a specific light is pretty hard to say... It really dépends on how big they will get.

I run 2 plants in 3 gal pots Under my 200W Solarflare light, But I have also run 4x plants in 1 gal pots, both these setups gave me similar yields of 4-5oz per harvest. If I were to use 5 gal pots I would probably only be able to fit 1 of them in my 2' x 2' cabinet.

According to the specs on the website the DS200 have a 2.5' x 3' core footprint so you could probably grow anywhere from 1 large plant to 5-6 smaller plants. Also don't forget about Mylar reflective film, this made a HUGE difference in the light reaching down low in my cabinet.

  6. I just ordered a 90w and a 180w. I have a 2x2 tent. Starting with 2 auto then maybe 3-4 next grow. Would it be a good idea to have the 180w over top and the 90w hanging vertically near the base of the plants? And how far should the lights be. I've read a lot of different heights. 8-12 inches is what most people are saying

  7. I would just hang the 2 side by side, and maybe have them at a small angl or something.

and for distance it depends on the LEDs you have, are they 3W or 5W? lense or no lense? but yeah 8-12" is good.

  8. 3w not sure about the lenses I'll ask. I just have the 90w in there now. Gonna see how they do under it. Then switch to the 180w once they get a bit bigger

  9. The Diamond have Lens and are 3w LEDs,  Diamonds are now cheaper if the Amazon seller is selling real Diamond LED lights. Before it was a toss up in my opinion.  Both are real expensive.

The Cali lights have UVb on the larger lights but I feel that is just a gimmick and could easily be added later if you really want that.  I have used LED but started with Halide/Sodium lights and never had a problem growing without an extra UVb light.  I have had great success with both.  One reason is since I switched to LEDs I ponied up the money to get as much power in my grow tent as I could afford.  Before I was limited by heat.  I have used 400 MH in a 2X3 cabinet and grew two beauties at a time.  Now I can fill the entire floor of a 4x4 with 8 to 10 plants and get good results.

I bought the 200 W Diamond Series LED from Advanced LED.  In a 5 sq ft (2' x 2.5') footprint it is possible pull close to one ounce per square foot.  Balanced hybrids produce the best yields, pure indicas and sativas generally less.

This was more than enough medicine to sustain me for most of year.  I calculated the electrical cost for the entire grow at roughly $60.00.   The light more than paid for itself after the first harvest in 5 months, considering the price of 5 oz at $200 an ounce.   While the price may seem steep at first, it doesn't take long to realize it's a no-brainer, if you want an alternative to recreational and MMJ.

That's what I hope people realize. With the right light and a little common sense, it is very easy to grow ridiculously potent medicine.  With the 200W diamond series the colas were fat, and coated with crystals.  Sativas will cure up definitely less dense than that grown under the standard dispensary grown herb under 1000W HPS.    But gram for gram it is as potent as so-called top shelf bud available at the medical or recreational stores.

  11.  would assume this is the way to go if you dont want to worry to much about your electric bill eh?

  12.
Smaller grows too. If someone has enough money to buy LED's for a big grow then they have enough money to just buy some weed.
