So called sneaker heads. Love em or hate em

  1. I get so annoyed by this people who have this weird fetish with sneakers, specifically Jordans. It seems so shallow to worship shoes that they cant even wear. They flip out if they get dirty and totally freak if someone steps on them. I wont even get into the lack of insight these people have into how their precious shows are made in sweat shops with child laborers.
Any like minded folks out there or any other opinions?

  2. yea i dont get it either....Js are ugly and uncomfortable.

i guess they're just something people who follow trends wear so they feel like they have "swag"

  3. Indifferent. I never thought sneakers were that serious, but to each their own I guess.

  4. Exactly how i feel about it. I kinda feel bad that these people are willing to pay hundreds of dollars for a logo when the actual value of the product is worth pennies on the dollar.

I am that way about ALL my shoes. And 90% of what we wear are made in sweat shops with child laborers. So i guess you dont wear anything Nike then? Because almost all of their shoes are made in sweat shops that have children working in them.

  6. I have one pair of Jordans, that I got when my friend died. But yeah, I wear them for swag mah nig, you just hatin, it aint my fault those little kids make some clean ass kicks

  7. Rope sandals and work boots. I'll never wear a sneaker again.

  8. Yeah I don't get it I mean I do own a couple pair of bikes and one pair of Jordans but the last pair I bought was 2 years ago I just don't give a fuck as long as my shoes aren't so fucked up my toes are sticking out

And yeah seriously I have to say Wtf to the money they spend on it

These people are buying them when they first come out and at retail they're usually $150 MINIMUM. Now the I see these guys posting up pics on Facebook if their collection and i count 20+ pairs hmm 150x20=3000

the worst part is they don't wear half of them because it will decrease the value. Lol so basically they're dropping thousands of dollars to put some sneakers on a shelf in their room that only a handful of people will even see

  9. In middle school, (I went to school in NYC, so my middle school had about 3 thousand kids) we were getting back to class from our lunch period.

I stepped on some ghetto kids shoes by accident in the huge crowd and he started hollering at me and telling me to come back and clean his shoes.

I laughed hysterically and walked away.

  10. I love J's. They make me look swaggy. I wear my J's with my bulls snapback and my cardigan.

  11. what's fuckin hilarious is it cost about $16 to make a pair of Js and these idiots pay hundreds of dollars for them.

  12. I think it's a pretty dumb thing to get serious about.  Buying shoes that cost upwards of thousands of dollars just to collect them seems really pointless to me.  I would get if people buy them just to resell for money but so many people just keep them on display.  To me it's the epitome of buying into the manufactured needs of irresponsible capitalism.  To put so much value into something so meaningless is such a waste of time and money that could be spent on better things.

I could maybe understand if the shoes were stylish or well made, but so many of them are loud and ugly, and they get messed up super easily when worn.  It's like people don't actually like the shoes, just the idea of them.  They want to feel some sort of smug satisfaction for having more rare or expensive shoes than the next guy, it's pathetic.

Also, if you're the type of person who would fight someone for accidentally stepping on your shoes you are a complete tool.  They're just shoes, covers for your feet that go through dirt and rocks and what a surprise, they're right at floor level where other people are walking.  If your shoes are more important to you than another human being maybe it's time to rethink priorities.

  13. Thanks to capitalism people are obsessed with material goods. I have had one pair of shoes for 2 years now, they still have no major holes so I still wear them.
I need to get another pair at some point, and some running shoes, but I see shoes for what they are, things that keep you from walking barefoot everywhere.
Fashion is just a tool of capitalist infrastructure to encourage  and convince people to buy goods that are marked up 500% by retailers.

  14. Try telling that to a woman. I know it's bad, and I know how marketing works but I'm still obsessed with shoes. Why not have a little variety in your life? Wearing the same pair over and over is boring. I'm one of those people that love collecting and I love to see my collection grow.

  15. I really like sneakers not to the point where i buy the new jordans at 7am on saturdays but I have quite a few pairs of jordans and nikes. Theres a lot more to them than just tryin to follow the new trends theres an insane amount of history behind a lot of the super expensive sneakers. A lot of times different features on the show are there to commemorate different events and learning how different technology comes about is pretty cool. Im just throwin it out there since not many ppl r defending sneakerheads its just like anything else that ppl collect theres a lot of history and cool facts out there about them

  16. I am a broke college student, can't afford new shoes, I like being able to eat haha. Plus collecting music is my vice and that has made me broke enough as it is, there is no way I can afford to collect something else.
I also live in a place where feminist ideals are very prevalent and most women feel the same about shoe collecting as I do. So if I did tell that to a woman I would probably get a high five or something. I am exposed to more lesbians and masculine girls on a daily basis than I am straight feminine ones. My little city also runs off the idea of local production and tries to limit the amount of mass produced products and stores that sell them; so people don't really buy into fashion as much but instead dress for individualist reasons. There is a local fashion industry, but that isn't really my scene.

  17. haha you're awesome! I'm a feminist although not extreme but I also love art and fashion so shopping is a vice for me :/ . I'm definitely not a girly girl but I do love to express myself through clothing. I wish I lived in a community where feminist ideals were the mainstream.

  18. To each their own but your "little city" sounds like a fucking nightmare.

  19. Cool, then don't come to here if you can't handle the ideas of equality and individualism :smoking:

    Thanks! lol.
You should check out Asheville NC, it is a very interesting little place! Lots of art going on here and plenty of killer bud to smoke. There is so much open mindedness going on here that it is everywhere; people call us little San Fransisco or Portland of the East.

  20. Waste f money, agree with all the top comments, only ever thought some shoes looked kinda cool ever, like these 2 pairs but their prob 200+ for no reason lol ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1393785830.053019.jpg ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1393785868.289115.jpg
