No problem! Mycorrhizae are some of the most amazing fungi ever. they grow on and inside of plant roots and not only do they increase growth by literally growing out and finding and returning nutrients to the roots, they also can protect the plant from fungal infections and root diseases, even nematodes and other soil insect pests.

In organics PH is very important, but at the same time not important because in a quality soil mix the soil microbes are all there to do their part to buffer pH. Bacteria make slime to stick to soil particles and this slime raises the pH. Fungi produce organic acids which decay organic matter for nutrients and this drops the soils pH. In a balanced soil the pH of the water you water with shouldn't matter because of all the microbes creating this buffering effect. However when damage occurs to one part of the soil food web, for example the bacteria, then they won't be producing as much slime and the pH buffering capability will be lessened. Likewise with fungi, they create fungal hyphae which are like tiny tubes throughout all the soil and if you physically compress the soil you can damage these tubes. The fungi in your soil will be damaged and also won't be able to do their part to buffer as well.

Also it's important to note that the plant also can dictate the pH of the medium if it wants to because it is in control of the bacteria and fungi supporting it through supplying which with exudates.

From what I've gathered cannabis prefers nitrogen in nitrate form but in flowering uses more nitrogen in ammonium form. Bacteria are great at providing nitrates and fungi are great at providing ammonium. in organics a cannabis plant is likely to love a bacterial soil in veg and in flower will prefer a fungal. You can also influence the ratio of fungi to bacteria by applying compost teas heavy in bacteria or heavy in fungi. So far I haven't messed with that stuff yet, just been making balanced teas.

So as you can see pH is important but in organics but at the same time, when you're doing everything right it isn't important to pH water going in because the soil buffers the pH for the plant, to whatever pH the plant wants by prefering a bacterial or fungal soil.

At the same time it still probably isn't a good idea to water a plant with extremely acidic or extremely alkaline water. Most tap water is like 7-8 pH.

U can also use dolomite lime as a topdressing if your organically growing.
That also helps keep ph in check.

  5. All this talk of PH and salt build up. Sounds like you dropped the ball on staying organic. Regardless, I think your plants look alright. Hope for a happy harvest.

  6. Thanks guys. and all I can say is Im gonna finish up this round and then do something different like teas. Botanicare says theyre organic, I guess I was just fooled by commercialism

  7. What did use do on ur 8 lb run?

  8. Hey guys I'm back!! Its been a while, lil over 2 years now but I'm finally growing again. I did a couple more runs in the room with the most recent pics(which turned out decently but nothing too crazy) but the girl I was with was providing the space for the grow and we parted ways about 10 months ago, which ended what I had going, but it was ultimately for the best! And now I have a new project going now, basically the same as always, 4000 watts for flower, Blahblah.. I got clones on Sept 9th, so todays day 45 of vegging so far. The strains are 1 Gorilla Glue #4, 3 Maui Waui, 3 Jack Ripper, and 1 Jack Herer. They are now in 20 gal pots with a organic soil blend that I'm familiar with.
The plants are starting to get big, I'm planning on flowering them this coming weekend. :)

  9. I havnt personally produced an indoor crop that yielded 8 lbs, but I've def helped with a lot of grows that produced a lot more than that! But my outdoor crop last year yielded 15 lbs!!
The grows I've helped with usually use a coco base medium but mostly organic soil grows :)

  11. A little about the strains...the gg#4 looks fire, I love smoking this strain, the terps are some of my favorite, but I've heard A lot of different things about it, either way I'm very excited for this strain, been waiting to grow it for a while. From the leaf shape it looks like it's a good 50/50 hybrid, def very excited to see this one flower.
The Maui's according to the leafly review are supposed to be a sativa, but the honestly look like they have the most indica in the room! Really thick dart broad leaves, really pretty plants.
The Jack Rippers like fuckin dank, like straight fire sativa plants, they look like they can out out some heavy yields.
The Jack Herer has been the odd be out, she had these crumpled leaves growing forever but finally has started to grow normal, however the plant has a ton of vigor and has the biggest leaves in the room!
It's always a risk trying new strains but I had to start again from scratch, and these girls seem to be able to do what I want them to do :)

  13. Very nice stuff, subbed up. Is your indoor in a shed again? I read the first couple pages of your journal then skipped to here. Looks like a very nice garden

  14. Thanks man!! Yea it's in a shed. My grow before this was a room I built inside a massive garage, it was shitty, super hard to get proper ventilation, so what I have now is much better

Yesterday I finished pulling them all back to their first later of trellis, and I broke just one little branch which is good coming from like 15 leaders from 8 plants lol. I also watered the Jack Rippers and the Jack Jeter with water plus some bone meal and calmag, PH at 6.2
I planned to be flowering them right around this time, but I think I want to go another week, I feel like im always rushing the Veg and this time I'm just taking my time :)
The way I Veg is I don't top the plants, maybe once when they are a baby clone. But I constantly pick the nodes all the way up to the top of the branch until there is only one node at the top of the branch, this directs energy and prevents unwanted branchs from establishing and stealing energy from the plant, and I have been doing that, but I needed to develop more branches, so I've stopped doing that for about two weeks now, because like I said I need to make more branches and also I want to have a bunch of little branches I can use for a batch of clones, I want to get plants going for the next run, so far these strains same to be really vigorous but obviously the true colors show when flower. So yea, im gonna go ahead and Veg them another week, during that week im gonna build another later of trellis. Oh yea I also took off about 5-10 fan leaves off the plants tonight because after I pulled the plants back, they had so many leaves that it was just better to take them off, I usually don't like to take fan leaves off, but these plants have a lot of leaves.
Anyways there ya go, I'll probably update when I get the second trellis up. Any questions are totally welcome!
PS. Has anyone here grown any of these strains before? And how were the results?

  16. 20161105_213611.jpg 20161105_213607.jpg 20161105_213548.jpg Hey guys these pics are from yesterday, tonight I switched the bulbs to HPS hortilux 1000s, and it's day 2 of flower! I took like 70clones and pruned the flowering girls, I had to take the vegging girls inside the house out from the grow room since the lights are on the 12/12 scedule.
I only have 2-1000s going right now cuz this is a new grow room, and I don't have enough power in the room to run all 4, I have an electrician coming in like 2 weeks to run sure from my panel to the room, im gonna get one of those Helios controllers for that, I wish I could get him in sooner But he's booked up. Oh well lol

  17. Btw im so excited for these plants, they seem super strong and hardy, the leaves are massive, and even though the have been just vegging I started using the charcoal filter cuz they smell already lol woohoo
