When exactly were those "good old days', Yuri? Abundant with factories, farms and mines? Sounds a lot like the 1950's... when the tax rate on the richest Americans was 90%.
Correlation doesnt cause causation, and in fact almost nobody paid 90+% on their taxes. If you do some basic research you will find the richest didnt pay that much at all, and in fact, the same top percent pay far more in total taxes today than in the 1950's. There are many others factors, such as WWII allowing America be the leader in manufacturing (cause even else was bombed to shit), so this weak insinuation that "golden age" was tied in with high taxes is false.
Speaking of inequality.. did you know that the top 40% income earners PAID ALL of the federal income tax? The lower 40% got checks back from the government.. http://www.cnbc.com/id/101264757. If that's not credible enough for you, run the numbers yourself http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-soi/04in06tr.xls Regarding taxes in the 50's.. here's a good article, feel free to take pieces of info from there and verify it elsewhere.. http://www.aei-ideas.org/2012/04/why-we-cant-go-back-to-sky-high-1950s-tax-rates/ I say cut foreign aid to a minimum and quit giving people tax breaks for donating money over seas. Keep the money in the country and take care of our own since people feel so strongly about it.
Outsourcing labor is a huuuuge problem (probly the main problem concerning wealth inequality). Taxes on the rich, minimum wage, and regulations are the causes. How can we fix this/ Sent from my LG-E739 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
That was my reaction to your incredibly fallacious comment. Do I need to explain what that body language in the gif meant, too?
except that capitalism has been proven to bring wealth to the lower class when no other social system in history has Sent from my LG-E739 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I think he may have mant the made up numbers you used in the OP. Then you claimed others make up these numbers. Then a link/chart was provided that showed you were wrong and you chose to ignore it.
That wasn't what you said though. What you said was far more ludicrous. You really should proofread what you type, take out the emotional and non factual garbage, and then click add reply. With the internet at the tips of your fingers there is really no reason to make such silly, and false statements. By the way, capitalism isn't a social system.
That is a superb defense of your earlier illogical statement. What can I say, you got me, I'm speechless.
The top 1% have over 35% of all wealth in the US. for Global assets it's 46%. ( http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/09/richest-1-percent-wealth_n_4072658.html ) I don't know whom you accredit with throwing out an emotional fallacy or where you come up with the claim. You can also see on the chart (quoted above) that the top 20% have roughly 85% of the wealth. That is very inequitable and money hoarded hardly benefits anyone but the rich and powerful. There is something very wrong with a World that has a system to reward "the money lenders" as richly as we do. 40 years ago we prosecuted loan sharks for using the same interest rates that we now allow banks to charge those that need it the most.
Hell even Jesus fucked up the money changers in the temple....And that nigga was all about peace and turning the other cheek!
He's calling you stupid. Glad you are so well off. The majority of us in America are always struggling in a world where one bad accident could leave us broke and homeless.
and what does this have to do with the thread? The point is throwing out abstract numbers such as actual income, dont accuratly show the wealth of the lower class. The lower class, while they may have less monopoly money now, have more value (tv/computer/food/water) than even middle class people a few hundred years ago. We should be less focused on wealth inequality and more focused on spreading the markets to the 3rd world. And making sure everyone has cheap access to food water and electricity. In order to do that we need to stop being war mongers. Stop destabilizing entire continents. Stop crippling economies with sanctions. And encourage more.global free trade Sent from my LG-E739 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
The poor (for the most part) now have indoor plumbing, they are much better off then even the richest caveman was. They need to stop bitching, even if they have to choose between the water bill and eating.
You have basically posted the same thing twice. I was being sarcastic to show you why your examples are rather silly.
