I've grown around plenty of Pine trees...If you've got good sunlight 8+ hours a day then you should be good. The pine needles that fall off and decompose add acidity to the soil..You may need to sweeten it up with some lime. I usually prep my site in late February-early March and add agricultural lime to the mix. Planting for me..is Mid-May. I've chopped and topped a few trees to ensure plenty of sunlight hours..I'm legal so I didn't have to worry about attracting attention with a chainsaw. You may want to use a good limb saw if your guerilla. less noise. Best way to find out is to send a sample to your local ag extention if you have one. They will do a soil analysis for cheap.
