Why marijuana is NOT addictive (my experience in the Middle East)

  1. Hi everyone,

As the title states, marijuana is not addictive and here's why:

I am 20 years old at present. I have been smoking weed since I was 13, but not regularly.

I grew up in many different places but ethnically I am mixed Pakistani (dad) and Puerto Rican (mom).

When I was 16, I moved to London, UK and started to smoke more and by the time I was 18, I smoked at least a gram every day, which was the most I could afford to spend on "dime bags" since I had no job and not enough money to buy weight, anyway I smoked every day for 2 years (2011-2013) and still smoke whenever I can. I absolutely love weed and I wish I could smoke it and stay high 24/7 until I die.

In August 2013, I moved to the Middle East (specifically Dubai and Oman) because I got a good job here which pays more than I could ever make in the US or in Europe. Its boring here, the weather is shit and the laws are bullshit, the people are rude and arrogant and nobody knows English. The worst thing by far is the lack of human rights and freedoms, and also the fact that there is NO weed or hash in any form any where in this region. I hate this place so much but I get tax free money here so that's the only reason why I stayed and continue to stay (hopefully in May I will leave forever).

Before I came here in August, I used to smoke high quality weed from Amsterdam (in London though) every day and I never want to quit, as I mentioned above.

From August to October I had no weed at all. Finally, I couldn't take it anymore. I searched high and low for some weed or hash or even hash oil, but there was none and even if there was, I can't speak Arabic so even if someone offered me some I wouldn't know what they were talking about.

In Dubai, even a microscopic particle of weed or any "drug" will get you a mandatory 4 year jail sentence and the police rape and beat up prisoners here. So I didn't want to take any chances.

I Googled "weed in Dubai" and stupid stuff like that in the hopes of finding some online. There was none. So I did what the website recommended, I went to Pakistan in October!

The hash in Pakistan is dirt cheap and its the only hash that has ever gotten me high (I had Moroccan hash in Spain but it didn't do anything to me). I stayed there for two weeks (In Islamabad). £20 will get you an ounce there, I loved it! But I knew I had to get back to this Arabian shit hole called the UAE, so I made every second count.

From October to December, I was in Oman/UAE and then I went back to London for Christmas/New Year and smoked every day again. It was great and I spend a LOT of money (£800) on just weed but it was well worth it.

Now, from January to May, I am here and I am definitely considering visiting Pakistan again.

So to conclude, weed isn't addictive; I never suffered any "withdrawal symptoms" but I love it so much that I want to smoke it all the time. That is not addiction, its love!

    Thanks for reading.

  2. Smuggle a big pakastan turd shaped hash log up your ass back into Dubai.

  3.
    Fixed it for ya. :smoke:

  4. As I've stated before on another post, anything that gives some sort of pleasure whether its mind altering or not is indeed addictive.Kottonmouth Kings

  5. That was a long ass story with a sudden, unsupported conclusion.

  6. Exactly and this has just recently been backed up by studies that heavy cannabis consumption can cause dependance/addiction and minor withdrawal symptoms.

It can happen with anything really man, sugar is one of em' too.

  7.
I don't know man, I smoked every day for years too and when I quit I didn't get any withdrawal symptoms either. I wanted to smoke weed for a few days after that, then I stopped thinking about it.

  8. I've been smoking for 3 years and the only symptoms I have gotten were sweating and insomnia, didn't get any craving really.

But I made a post in another thread ( http://forum.grasscity.com/seasoned-tokers/1280183-anyone-else-have-trouble-cutting-back.html#entry19462049 ) validating there is common, but minor withdrawal symptoms associated with chronic use.

  9. Yea man i have family that lives in Dubai, their kids hate it but it doesn't matter how much you can make if the life style is mediocre. If you do it right you could earn a lot more here in the U.S., I was born here and have way more opportunity than my cousins do in Dubai.

  10. Go to Afghanistan - find US soldiers, tell them your late for work, ask where the pop pop factory & fields are .

  11. Vivid dreams are one of the most common withdrawals. It's impossible to avoid. I don't really understand your views when obviously you can't wait for that first hit again buddy. Not trying to be negative, but that is the addiction. Remember it's not how much or how often an alchoholic drinks, it's what it does to him/her. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum

  12. im not addicted to weed therefore its not addictive. makes perfect sense.
