1. Showed up 5 minutes late to a job on my first day when I was 16, they told me I couldn't work that day so I just quit and got a new job that same week. Been at this job for 3 years

2.
ive walked out on group training sessions, prior to actually signing on as an employee but after actually being 'hired'.one was a valet thing, i could see it sucked so why bother. I told someone i was leaving.a cell phone thing.. they actually sent me a check for the 2 hours i was there. I just went to 'lunch' and never came back. It was in a conference room in a building downtown.. all about rates and plans and sales. I wasnt even looking for that job, a dude in the mall just pounced on me and i didnt know better.AMC dishwasher was pretty fast. Was there for about 4 hours, went 'to the bathroom' and never went back to the dishpit. You cant even check your cellphone in that fuckn place without getting your nuts tugged. I couldve got hired as a cook there but i was like no thanks.worked in a lube shop for a day. ive worked in other ones longer but this one wasnt for me so i just went home at the end of the first work day and never went back. did something else instead.sometimes i 'man up' and tell someone im leaving but not always. i can do whatever i want!i remember this small independent restaurant... i never did much food service work but this place was gonna give me a shot, they were all pumped about it being successful and shit. Tried to get me to memorize the whole fuckn menu.. and i actually tried. I did shrooms that night too.Anyway never actually showed up for the position.. which was server/asst mgr or somethn. So thats pretty fast. Quit before my first shift. The dude called me and left me a message about the commitment i made.. lol whatever. Pretty shitty of me but cant change it now. At the time i was just like fuck it.and how could i forget the 'stadium hawker' thing at Cowboys stadium.. i was gonna sell waters or snacks... Signed up but never showed up. Too far away and i was afraid the thing would be too heavy so why bother. Those fuckers called me like 10 times. Needless to say, I never answered. There was a courier thing... No way i could make any money so i quit before ever actually driving for the guy. But I was hired. Didnt draw a check so i dont count it on my list of jobs ive actually worked. which is a long one.
Dude, Im dying right now . You're a boss. Not literally of course, since you just walk out when ever lmao.

I worked two full shifts at a 10 day fair as a security guard. Maybe 3-4 hours into my 2nd shift, one of my "co-workers" asked to borrow my walkie talkie because her's was apparently fucking up. So I say hey sure, no problem. She takes it, say's she will be right back, but nope. Didn't see her the rest of my shift. I guess my boss was trying to get a hold of me, and this bitch decided to tell my Boss that she had no clue where I was. Kind of fucked up how nobody even came to my post too see if I was still there, because if they did they would have seen me sitting there. I staid at my fucking post even though I had I believe 2 breaks, that I never got to take because nobody relieved me.
Sure enough, when I go to drop off my stuff at the office they start giving me shit.
I try to tell my side of the story and they basically call me a liar. So I get pissed and say "Well I'm not coming back."
Oh well, I survived.

7. Never quit one fast but the only time I've ever been fired I was doing concrete for a couple of weeks and the foreman showed up on site one day. We were pouring a sidewalk outside a school and the foreman had the concrete pump I was raking it into place which is a bitch by the way. Anyway I'm raking like a madman trying to keep up and I barely hit his foot with my rake he freaked out like a pussy and fired me on the spot. I proceeded to call him a fatfuck ( he was :) and told him he shoulda got his foot outta my way. The whole crew busted up laughin. It sucked though cuz I was makin 25/hr under the table and this was almost 15 years ago.

Now I hike around in the woods all day and measure trees blazed and working for myself. Couldn't ask for anything better :)

8. Never walked off or quit, gave my notice n shit and did my time or was asked to leave but never just upped and quit cya later before.

11. Worked at a local grocery store for about a week during my first year of college. Before I was hired I made it clear what hours I could work and those that I couldn't because of class. First 2 days were fine, easy job, kinda boring. But then I see the schedule and they have me marked to work on all the days I have class (the problem was more the hours, not the days. I'd be in class when they wanted me to work) So I talk to the woman who makes the schedule and told her it was a problem for me. She was really annoyed & asked me when I was available. I told her, and told her I already had that discussion before I was hired. She told me "that won't work here" (they basically wanted me to only take 1 summer class so i could work more hours) I took the apron off and tossed on the table. Walked out and never went back. 12. Back in the late 70's and early 80's, they were drilling oil wells every 10 feet around here. The longest I worked for a company was a year and 3 months. The shortest time was about 45 minutes. A that was only to drive to the well site. Just got out of the truck and a compressor on the rig exploded. Sent 3 inch steel mesh hosing flying everywhere at a high rate of speed. The truck I was standing behind lost it's windshield. They were going to be shut down for awhile, but offered me busy work. Told them I didn't like rigs that have tendency to explode because normally I would've been standing right in the middle of it. That's when I learned this wasn't the incident. So I wandered down the road to the next rig. You could do that in those days. I think I had almost 40 W-2 tax forms that year. There were a few others that I decided not to show up for at all, but they don't really count since I quit before I started.

13. Like a month bath fitter fucking sucks, unless its actually a real job that has a career involved like IT, engineering, or business I wouldn't sweat it Ive quit part time jobs at retail places it doesn't matter poverty wages are not worth my time.

14. 8 hours. Went for an interview at this place where they make fillings for fruit pies. I got a completely different job to the one I applied for, basically ended up being the 'chefs bitch'.

I did the shift, went home and never went back. Didnt even get paid for them hours either.

Haha, haven't seen Prison Break so I don't know, but I doubt it :p It was a prison hospital, or 'special needs facility', so a bit different from your typical max security prison. A lot of them had chronic physical problems, some had severe psychiatric issues, some had a combo of the two. We didn't work set shifts, so day or night was fair game, and overtime was usually available, and sometimes required. And job security for prison guards is always great in the US....

You inspect and search quarters, do roll, escort inmates around the grounds, deal with visitors, etc. "Observe for unusual behavior", which is kind of funny, because needless to say, people (especially people with psych issues) who are locked up are going to act unusually. Basically, make sure nobody is attempting to hurt themselves or someone else. Or planning to, but yeah, easier said than done. Keep the peace when necessary. The best job is just patrolling the TDOC grounds, nothing to it, just hop in the truck, keep your eyes peeled and enjoy the ride. There were a lot of nurses, RTs, psychiatrists, and other medical professionals working there too.

The training is easy (and paid), and only lasted a month. The physical requirements aren't much, and from what I've seen they're not enforced after you're on the job. They teach you policies and procedures, a weapons course, a basic self-defense course, a few various little things. Piss in a cup and complete a background check to make sure you've never committed a felony. Just have a high school diploma/GED and be eighteen or older. Not exactly too competitive, no trade skills or higher education needed.

I didn't fit the job very well. It's hard to find a balance when interacting with inmates. I'm generally a pretty nice and patient guy, and I would never try to treat anyone as a lesser person. But some of them will fuck with you, try to intimidate you, etc. Especially when you're new, and if they're bigger than you. You have to stand your ground and don't show weakness, or you'll get eaten alive. Okay maybe not eaten, but attacked, likely. Act humanely, and as friendly as you want, but never forget that you're still surrounded by violent criminals. The toughest part of the job was constantly trying to keep my own mind and behavior in check. It's almost like switching back and forth from the bully to the bullied.

Those who do it for quite awhile eventually grow calloused and don't have to worry as much about that. Be just humane enough to pass, and you're good. Most of the younger people were either half-assed (like myself, basically), or wanted to get into LE down the road, and tried to use the job as a door. Or couldn't, and took it as an alternative. Some were pretty cool, actually. Others, well, you can take a decent guess at their personality types. A few are pretty crooked.

I performed the job fine, but mentally, I really didn't like doing it. It's just not the job for me. I actually left it for a lower paying job, if that says anything. The prison system in the US is fucked up, I don't care to be on either side of it.

Edit: Sorry for writing a damn novel. It's kind of funny I ended up doing that, considering my behavior and experiences as a kid. My dad's done several years (eight or nine combined, I think) in jail and prison, and many others in my family are or have been incarcerated as well. And I took off on the same foot, got in a lot of trouble as a teenager. Ha, guess I'm still 'technically' a criminal anyway :smoking: ain't it a trip?

I was a dishwasher and at a busy ass restaurant near the movies. There would literally be 100 pots stacked up with pizza trays stacked to the ceiling and drains clogged with hundreds of ppl coming in and I was the only dude doing all the work. There was no time clock either so I would only get paid for the schedule...I would get in there like 4 and stay till 1 and just bust my ass and the guy would threaten to fire me if I texted on my phone after I had done all my work.

Fuck that shit. Walked out, threw my hat in the trash. Not worth it. Worked there like 4 weeks. My boss would complain I used too much water...I was a dishwasher..

19. 3 months as a dishwasher

20. Worked at Papa John's for about a year and a half, eventually got hired as a server at a restaurant and just quit, stopped coming in and everything. Eventually that restaurant fired me for missing shifts too much (got too blazed and would sleep too late, I have a hard time waking up). I went back to Papa John's, walked in and immediately got the job back and was put on the schedule again then I never showed up because I said fuck that. The end.
