The long road here

  1. Today is day 48 of flower.  The mad dawg is looking good, the nugs are getting plumper and all the trichs are nice white color.  It isn't that frosty though so I am hoping that in the next few weeks it frosts up more. I'll post pics tomorrow.

The Jack herer has a SERIOUS phosphorous deficiency as self diagnosed by me fairly confidently. Remember how some leaves were suddenly showing those rust spots on my leaves before eventually killing the leaf, well I think its because of phosphorous deficiency.  The way I LST'd this plant created A LOT of budsites, way more than the Mad dawg, which is why I think it is the only one showing signs of deficiency. So I cut off a lot of the lower crap branches and wanna be nugs.  The Jack Herer looks like a 14inch tall, 2 foot wide bush of only nugs haha I lost a lot of leaves due to the rust spots...

I picked up some Tiger Bloom to give it a boost next time I water. Will tiger bloom be okay to give even though the plant doesn't have a lot of bigger leaves left?

I figure I have at least 2 more weeks left until they are finished, I can't wait!  I'll post pictures tomorrow for you guys.

  2. with 2 weeks left, there is not much sense in giving any more nutes. The plant won't uptake them anyway.  It's living off of the sun leafs.  As you get closer to harvest these will turn yellow and die out.

In theory those leafs should be dying off at the same time the buds are coming into amber heaven, but in my experience it very rarely meets up exactly.

If your plants are finished as the sun leafs are still green there was too much Nitrogen.

  3.
Ok I figured that was the case, I'll just shelve the tiger bloom and use it next grow. I spotted a few amber colored trichs on the Jack today.

  4. Day 49 of flower Jack Herer. I took some pics of the leaves so you can see the phosphorous def. I was talking about.

  6. I noticed today that the leaves on the Mad Dawg are starting to yellow,  hopefully that is a sign that she'll be done soon. The mad dawgs nugs are packing some more weight too, I can't wait to get baked off my own home grown ganja. I'll post pics tomorrow or the next day.

  7. to be expected.

In the last couple of weeks in the plant's life, it will cease uptaking food from the ground (theory is, that it takes too much energy) and starts to draw the sugars from the sun leafs.

    great job so far.

  8. The weather has been absolutely beautiful here this week so during the day I've had my plants out in the sunshine and boy do they love it!The sun is giving them a nice boost at the end of their lives, they seem to appreciate it. I am hoping I can taste some of the sunshine in my smoke  :yummy:

  9. not only will you taste the sunshine but you'll taste all of your efforts

    good job

    you are almost there.

  10. Just by having my plants outside for 4 out of the last 5 days has been incredible. All the nugs have fattened up and they even grew height wise about an inch, just incredible! My memory card on my phone is busted otherwise I'd show some pictures, I'll try to get some pictures loaded up tomorrow. Forecast for the weekend is sunshine, oh yeah!

  11. Day 65 of flower.

As always the smaller plant is the Jack and the bigger one is the Mad Dawg. In the pictures of the Mad Dawg I think you can see how the nugs have this cute little "hat" on them. That is from being in the sun, all my nugs grew an extra inch and you can see how the top of the nugs have these thinner tops, I am calling them hats haha.

The Jack's nugs aren't very full, in fact I think the nugs look kinda different from anything I've seen before.  The jack's trichs are starting to change colors too, I should be seeing a 50/50 split of amber and cloudy trichs prolly next  week.  I haven't really seen any amber on the mad dawg yet.

  12. Now that I am getting closer to harvest time I wanted to pick your guys' brains about some things.  What are you thoughts on giving the plants a few days of complete darkness right before chop to boost trich production? I've read that a lot of people do it because they think it helps make them a little frostier.

  13. If I'm lucky enough, I try to time the harvest with the peak full moon.

I don't know any grower who does this technique, but like most things associated with growing you have experimentation.

My experience is that pretty much every grow has some kind of experiment in it along the way. :)  It's almost like oreos & milk.

Now that you are a real grower, swing by the organic lounge and get a copy of the pdf file - teaming with nutrients.  You'll be happy you got it.

  14.
The full moon is going to be on Tuesday night! Should I harvest then? Cool thanks I've poked around the lounge before and it was pretty chill. I'll search for the pdf, thanks for the knowledge!

Sorry about the quality of the pics this last update.

  15. Day 68 of flower: Wow! It's so damn hard to wait for them to finish. I have come this far and waited this long. I won't let my impatience get the best of me, but DAMN is it hard to wait, especially since I'm not entirely sure when they will be finished.  I check their progress daily, using a jewler's loupe to inspect the trichs.  My jack herer nugs are so dinky, its like the plant didn't have enough energy to make the buds fat.  But it is frosty as all get out, I've considered saving the bigger nugs and turning the rest of the plant into hash once it's finished...

  16. lol , I'm the same way.

Have some fun with your harvest, you deserve it.

  17. So I've decided that I will chop them on Saturday.  Saturday will make them 77days of flower.  I plan to leave them on 24 hours of dark before harvest.  I think its time, I don't imagine the nugs will swell anymore so I feel 11 weeks of flower is long enough.

  18. 77 days is probably a good number.

it's your first harvest so take some pictures for when you get old like me you've got something to look back on.

Also, post a few of those porn pics here :)

  19. CHOP CHOP!!  IT'S HARVEST DAY. Day 79.  Damn it took me way longer than I thought it would to chop them down and hang up all the branches. Harvesting a huge crop would be so time consuming.  Anyways here are some pictures, sorry if the quality isn't great, first time using the camera.

I have to admit, it was a bittersweet moment when I began chopping the first lady.  I poured in some much time, effort, resources and love into these 2 plants. uhhh.. (deep sigh)

Prior to chop they were left in complete darkness for ~36 continuous hours.  Right now they are in my tent hanging as you'll see in the pictures. The mad dawg produced some nice looking nugs, the Jack is not so pretty looking, but it is frosty af.

There is no fan blowing air into my tent, I just left all the vents open and the flap half unzipped/open.  Should I add a fan? Thanks again to everyone that has stayed along for the ride!

  20. Got all the popcorn nugs drying on the cookie wire rack on the floor of the tent. I saved all the leaves and trim in a brown paper bag.  For reference I am following Rumpleforeskins guide to harvesting/curing, it seemed like a straight forward easy method that was popular on this forum so I am using it.
