    Gaia Green has the exclusive on the glacial rock dust out of Grand Forks, BC and the local organic farm store was the first distributor in Oregon & Washington to offer this product beginning about 10 years ago. The price is very low even with their recent 20% price hike. Not a complaint it was long overdue.

    Some of their other products are available at the same store but it's pretty competitive around here which puts them in the upper tier as far as pricing. When 60 lbs. of bat guano costs $50.00 from ABG you can see how tight the profit margins are.

    Good company with a nice array of soil amendments...

  3. Thats really cool that you know of them.  It sounds like More people know of them than i thought.  I cant remember the Guy`s name, but he`s really worried about the Future availability of Bat Guano.

  4. I only mentioned bat guano because Gaia Green has a couple of packs. I've never used bat or seabird guano and even at this organic farm store the amount that is sold is minimal even at less than $1.00 per lb.

    Kelp meal is $1.16 per lb., my comfrey is free, my vermicompost costs less than $.10 per lb. to produce why would I support slave labor around the world? To grow 'dank' or something equally inane?

    Does anyone really believe that a 12 week cycle is enough time for microbes to deconstruct this fossilized material to make the 'nutes' available to a plant's roots?

    Another JC myth...

  5.
    But dude bat guano is high in phosphorous and you need that for bud growth... or rock phosphate...

    Youre livin' in the past, man!

  6. fish bone meal?

    thanks in advance :gc_rocks:

  10. Wow, can't believe how high the prices are at kelp4less...I found a local hydroshop that carries a lot of the amendments that I've been looking for...Most of the stuff is like half as cheap as kelp4less...

    kelp4less buy their base materials at the very same organic farm store in Portland that I shop at. You can add Aurora Innovations (Roots Organic), Vital Earth, et al. to that list.

    Knowing what they're paying it's a little more than interesting to see the prices they charge their customers. The 5 crime families in New York have to use murder, extortion, bribery, etc. to make that kind of return...to say the least.

    hey dude..

    from what i've been reading.. this is the go to place for comfrey.

    http://www.coescomfrey.com/comfrey.html

    i heard the owner is a little coo-coo, but the product is good..

  13.
    Even better, check out HORIZON HERBS. Top notch Comfrey plus other organic stuff (They are all organic), and a nifty catalog with bunches of pen and ink illustrations.

    This was the organic forum's 'go to' place for comfrey a couple of years back when I ordered mine.

    Have no idea from where or when the coo-coo guy popped up.

  14. Lol Coe is a little coo-coo for comfrey. He only sells bocking #4 and his information about the cultivar is a little wonky, I think. Pretty sure Lawrence D. Hills, the maker of the Bocking series, covets Bocking #14. I'm sure Coot can explain in more detail about why...

    And I think Horizon Herbs sells #14. I plan on buying some and comparing the two since I already have a few #4's from Coe.

  15. I see you have spinosad listed but search didn't turn up any listings for bacillus thuringiensis AKA BT caterpillar killer..

    BT-k bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki  Caterpillar control..  sold under several names
    Safer = http://www.hydroponics.net/i/132569
    Bonide = http://www.territori...CFQaBfgodk0UAug
    Garden Safe = http://www.gardensaf...2845931900.ashx
    Monterey = http://www.domyownpe...-bt-p-2821.html?
    Green Light = https://www.google.c...=2&ved=0CHkQuiQ

    Another one I feel should be listed is Green Cure for Powdery Mildew control.. https://www.1000bulb...earchButton.y=0

    This as well.. BT-i bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis as Mosquito Dunks and bits for Fungal Gnats... http://www.pondbiz.c...ges/Sum1156.jpg

    With the current talk in the lounge about Malted barley grains-meals-powders maybe a section on that as well ??

  16. No experience with the #4, but the #14's I got from Horizon Herbs have been doing well since 2010. Might have been 2011, I don't remember anymore. LOL

    This place was local to me, offers information specific to the appalachians, has both #4 and #14 bockings alongs with a handful of others. They have nettle seeds, yarrow, fennel, heirloom veggies, and very nice employees.

    Edit: you can get about 2-3 extra plants from the cuttings/crowns they send you, too.
     Beware of what you order, though, they offer invasive comfrey seeds and cuttings as well :devious:

    very cool man.. just remember reading about a few folks being happy with this coe fella. Never bought any myself.

    was planning on it till i realized it was growing all over my yard already :p

    Cool beans! Pretty much local to me also. Well, less than 50 miles local, I'm in the Upstate of SC.

    Had to laugh though, she was touting the very same garlic I have been since the first time I grew it over 5 years ago. That would be Music. I had been wanting to grow garlic for years, but a no go in SoFl. I had ordered 5 or 6 varieties in the fall of 2008 for harvest in the early summer of 2009.

    Music just flat blew everything else away the way it thrived here. Have not found anything even close till 3 years ago when I tried some Georgia Fire (Georgian Fire). Very similar to Music, but somewhat hard to find. They are so similar, it's like they are both cultivars of the same ancestor. Both also do well in 5gal containers with no worries from soil borne problems. This works well for both eating and building up disease free seed stock.

    If you're interested, the old adage is, "Plant on Halloween, harvest on the 4th of July".
