High Times 1st Issue?

Discussion in 'The Bookshelf' started by k2rigs, Jan 10, 2014.

  1. I have a 1st issue of High Times. From what I know and have researched, there were 4 prints ran of the 1st issue. The following:1) high times with "one dollar" top right, "premier edition" too left "summer 1974" under the "H".2) no "premier edition" no "summer 1974"3) more space between "high" & "times" this print included a subscription insert.4) had "$1.50" in top right "premier issue , collectors edition" top left.My question is this... How many were printed of each variation? How would I find out? I can't find anything online that tells me information. Any help would be appreciated or corrections of what I've found as far as prints go.Thanks!

  2. Write high times.

November 2009 #406 HT 35th Anniversary issue, page 14 has a small article and picture identifying original first issue and it's 3 reprints.

1* Original Premier Issue has a heavy stock card aluminum Foil like cover.  Only 1,000 of these ever printed.  It is easily scratched and dented.  "One Dollar" cover price. The cover lines on the right should be aligned with the first letter of each line.  (Not Staggered like the 3 reprints).

2* Premier Issue and Summer '74 in top left corner.  One Dollar cover price.  Staggered cover lines.  There is a disclaimer on the inside cover that is not in the 3rd and 4th reprint.  Second page has Deal High Times offer.  Back page has offer for Ad Space.  Back cover has no "outline" on The Curse of the Oval Room.

3*  Premier Issue in top left corner.  (no Summer '74).  One Dollar cover price.  Staggered cover lines.  Inside cover has subscription for mags., no disclaimer.  Second page has Getta Job cigg. paper ad.  Back page has Get off on the Double e-z wider papers ad.  Back cover has outline around The Curse of the Oval Room.

4*  Premier Issue Collector's Edition in top left corner.  "$1.50" cover price.  Staggered cover lines.

I don't know how many they printed of the 3 reprints but I see a lot of those for sale.

  5. Well I'd say the best way to find out would be to ask High Times.
