Do you think street prices in Colorado will change?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by Kylerst, Jan 4, 2014.

  1. With weed now legal in Colorado the prices of weed has gone up in dispensaries, but if you're 18 you will still have to buy from dealers. Do you think dealers will change their prices as well?

  2. Some might, some won't.

I think dealers will start to go out of business after stores get their shit together. Why would you want to wait hours on end for someone when you can go to the store anytime and have you bud right then? Not to mention the variety you'll get with a store. Right now stores are more expensive then most dealers but I don't see that lasting too long. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. I don't think there will be dealers. How many people do you know that run a business selling alcohol to minors? None.

  5. What about dealers that deliver to your doorstep that grow their own and charge their own rates, could be cheap and they still make bank. Dealers won't be going out of business anytime soon, it may end up being the place to go if prices don't drop soon

  6. I think there still will be dealers because people that aren't 21 yet will still need somewhere to get weed.

  7. I'm sure delivery services will sprout up. They already have with medical marihuana. I think alcohol is a bad example since you can't just grow it. Tobacco is a better example. How many people do you know who grow tobacco and sell it? EVENTUALLY, I believe this is how marihuana will be. It will definitely take some time but cultivation will end up becoming more of a novelty or for people who want to save money. Just like people who brew beer and wine. 9. I actually think it's a fair example. I mean in the end the under-21s will be the only ones who can't go to the store to buy it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. The two will level out close to the same price. Dealers can almost always undercut retail cost easily just because of lack of overhead and taxation.

While prices as a whole may come down a bit, retail stores arent looking to lower their profits any time soon. Dealers will continue to charge as much as they can get away with, buy noone over 21 is going to pay over retail. Some will go out of business or move to other products because you cant make a living off a bunch of high school kids buy a gram at a time.

I live in CO, but grow my own. That is the way to go if you can. Its nice to have retail and mmj but they are all a rip off versus growing your own.

No it's not, it's simple economics. Black markets don't exist when there are legal markets that are able to meet supply.

    Sorry little buddy!

  12. Yea, they will stay the same because the legal prices in the stores are $50-60 per eighth which is a lot more expensive because of the %25 tax.

  13. Alcohol and weed have two totally different markets. Considering the ratio between alcohol and weed users id say alcohol is more. Weed isn't legal in as much states as alcohol therefore the use of alcohol is more generally accepted. Minors find it so much easier to get alcohol because there's less risk of anything happening to them unlike compared to weed.

  14. You ever heard of moonshine? There will always be someone looking to sell a better and cheaper product. I could easily see people growing there own, avoiding all of the government shit and taxes, and sell their shit for cheaper.

  16. I would much rather either buy medical/recreational bud from a dispensary or grow my own then buy from a dealer

  17. give it a while and you won't see many dealers slangin it..

  18.
Exactly... fewer weed smokers, meaning even less customers for dealers. I'm not saying it'll happen right away, but once they are established, your dealer will be delivering pizza.

Just like alcohol, minors will just get people of age to buy it for them, it'll still be way less of a hassle than dealing with incompetent dealers.

  19. I'm confused as to why people are saying dealers won't be around as much. Considering im a cheap person and the price difference being so big if rather buy from a dealer than buy from a dispensary, the extra money id have saved will allow me to buy more bud. For different variety, just find new dealers. The only reason I can see dealers running out of business is when growing becomes truly legal and people are educated in it.

Okay sure, but can you honestly say to me moonshine is a better product than store-bought alcohol? Some people will do this, but they will be so few and far between that minors will just do what I said in my previous post.
