Hey found this thread, new to California... But seen the OP is from Tarzana, I actually work in Tarzana, thought that was pretty rad... Got to post like 30 and seen only two SoCal growers, so figured if say hey and introduce myself while I continue to read. Just recently moved to Cali from the east coast... One of my jobs is being a " volunteer " at a dispensary. Kinda fell into a dream job, as I am a heavy smoker for 15 years. Where I come from... You have regs, mids, and beasters ( headies ) and KB (kind bud)... And the occasion rare hydro (dro) which was really just like everything else someone just heard hydro from someone and would call it dro, and it was always great to me, never heard strain names before or anything ever never even indica or sativa until I came out here. Well other than Florida they called it shwag or crippy. But anyway to the point... SoCal has blown my mind! So much amazing shit, so my varieties like, shit just got real... Kush is probably the greatest thing I've ever smoked in my life. so of course I started saving seeds and shit one day decided in a whim to germ then and had 12 out ifb12 germ, and thought shit... I'm gonna really have to do something with these now! ( I've always just thrown seed in the grass and watched to see if they ever survived randomly with no care, fail. So I guess you could say I'm a novice of course... On his first grow; they all died, and I got a handful of clones after spending three weeks watching the first 12 die, and researching and learning and studying for a solid month I went to get clones to not let it all be a waste and now I'm hooked, now and on week 4 of the clones. Anyway now that I'm done my long redundant stoned rant of an intro... Hope to watch you all succeed and hopefully be able to learn some stuff as well. I had a grow journal but I'm new to GC and have no clue how to find it... And rarely have anyone comment on anything I post and when they do I rarely get notifications for it so I have no clue where it is or how to find it. But if I can find it I'll post it here. Not by much..it seems that LED might take as much as a week off flowering, but again, its hardd to say since I never had run side by side comparisons. The one thing LED is amazing for is electricty usage reduction. I used to use 1000w of HID and now I am getting preetty much the same yields with about 550W of LED.... plus much better flavored buds, more trichomes and better quality overall.
Hey not sure if anyone is close to the Tarzana area but stopped I to a little hydroponics store I never noticed today ( totally going to be my new spot ) the guys there were pretty awesome had no problem answering my dumb novice questions... They also have to a of samples of products to help you decide on a product rather than dropping 50-100 bucks on something you end up not wanting to use or don't like. i think i might need to get into led right now i am using a 600 watt hps and four 4' cool white and warm white flouresents my mother tent is running two 2' t5 led seems like it would make electric bill drop down and im all about that
Went to stage four today. Took my three stage and set it up to light stage four this Thursday at the latest. Figured I'd share my little guys after their third nutrient watering yesterday... These guys blow up day after it's crazy.... They are clones cut sept 28th in soil oct 4th Louie, and the big guy is sour d. Sour d in rockwool cube out in soil last night and fed first nutrients just bought her last weekend. same age. Stage 4 lit off today. I also made a 1 foot tall table to bring the top of my 3 gallon pots to 12 inches from the net.
