Purple stem?

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by nimblybimbly, Nov 30, 2013.

  1. Hey blades! I'm doing a small first time solo cup grow. The upper half of the stem on my plant (about 8 inches) is turning purple. The plant is on it's fourth leaf set. Any ideas about why the stem is purple? Is this good, bad, or nothing/ Thanks!

  2. Could be the strain the temp nute issues

  3. Too cold.

  4. hmm, should I move the light closer you think? It's farther than it needs to be for sure.

  5. Yea it could help, how far away is it? It's more than likely when you turn the lights off that it gets too cold for it. Whats your set up like?

  6. Could be genetics. 2 strain in same environment 1 purple stem 2 green. Wouldn't worry much about it unless you have really cold temps like others have said.

  7. It's because your daytime temps are significantly different to your night. It's the rapid and significant temp change that causes the purple on the stem.
