Im moving - is it legal to ship my bong?

Just clean them completely, buy some Grunge Off and soak those perks for 24 hours and just wash it off.
 
You can even reuse the grunge off for future cleanings

 

It should be legal to ship as long as there's no residue whatsoever on it and you claim it's for tobacco use. But then there's this that always makes me paranoid:

Drug Paraphernalia - Sec. 863

In general
It is unlawful for any person
to sell or offer for sale drug paraphernalia;
to use the mails or any other facility of interstate commerce to transport drug paraphernalia; or
to import or export drug paraphernalia.

Penalties
Anyone convicted of an offense under subsection (a) of this section shall be imprisoned for not more than three years and fined under title 18. 

Seizure and Forfeiture
Any drug paraphernalia involved in any violation of subsection (a) of this section shall be subject to seizure and forfeiture upon the conviction of a person for such violation. Any such paraphernalia shall be delivered to the Administrator of General Services, General Services Administration, who may order such paraphernalia destroyed or may authorize its use for law enforcement or educational purposes by Federal, State, or local authorities.

''Drug paraphernalia'' defined
The term ''drug paraphernalia'' means any equipment, product, or material of any kind which is primarily intended or designed for use in manufacturing, compounding, converting, concealing, producing, processing, preparing, injecting, ingesting, inhaling, or otherwise introducing into the human body a controlled substance, possession of which is unlawful under this subchapter. It includes items primarily intended or designed for use in ingesting, inhaling, or otherwise introducing marijuana, (FOOTNOTE 1) cocaine, hashish, hashish oil, PCP, or amphetamines into the human body, such as :

metal, wooden, acrylic, glass, stone, plastic, or ceramic pipes with or without screens, permanent screens, hashish heads, or punctured metal bowls;
water pipes
carburetion tubes and devices
smoking and carburetion masks
roach clips: meaning objects used to hold burning material, such as a marihuana cigarette, that has become too small or too short to be held in the hand
miniature spoons with level capacities of one-tenth cubic centimeter or less
chamber pipes
carburetor pipes
electric pipes
air-driven pipes
chillums
bongs
ice pipes or chillers
wired cigarette papers; or
cocaine freebase kits

Matters considered in determination of what constitutes drug paraphernalia
In determining whether an item constitutes drug paraphernalia, in addition to all other logically relevant factors, the following may be considered:

instructions, oral or written, provided with the item concerning its use
descriptive materials accompanying the item which explain or depict its use
national and local advertising concerning its use
the manner in which the item is displayed for sale
whether the owner, or anyone in control of the item, is a legitimate supplier of like or related items to the community, such as a licensed distributor or dealer of tobacco products
direct or circumstantial evidence of the ratio of sales of the item(s) to the total sales of the business enterprise
the existence and scope of legitimate uses of the item in the community; and
expert testimony concerning its use

Exemptions
This section shall not apply to :
any person authorized by local, State, or Federal law to manufacture, possess, or distribute such items; or
any item that, in the normal lawful course of business, is imported, exported, transported, or sold through the mail or by any other means, and traditionally intended for use with tobacco products, including any pipe, paper, or accessory

 

 

For the grinder I'd recommend washing it with ISO and making hash. As someone said previously, grungeoff should be good for your bong.

 

What makes my sly?
 
The grungeoff should take it all out if you soak it long enough, I don't have personal experience with the product though. As for the grinder, wash it with ISO a couple times to get the most dankness out of it, then if there's still stuff left I'd give it a good scrub.

 

it's a grinder. why ship it? just pack it in a box same with the bong. wrap in newspaper and place in a box, marked "kitchen"

 

I know everyone recommend grunge off but I have always used Randy's glass cleaner and get my pipes clean enough to take on a plane no problem at all

why don't you just ship it? its staying in the country so whats the big deal? or better yet drive with it? put it in a bin in your car full of crap and drive?

 

Why can't you pack them with your other belongings when you move?

Don't scare the guy, that law is never enforced and he'll be OK provided the bong and grinder is spotlessly clean.  I think I'd ship them seperately though, the bong AND grinder just might be considered paraphanalia together, alone I doubt it.  They could both technically could have other uses than drugs.  It's done all the time...how do you think the head shops get their bongs...they're not hand delivered by elves, they shipped by UPS or FedEx.  

 

Not trying to scare so much as I'm trying to warn what's at risk. Hence me saying it simply makes me paranoid but that he SHOULD be good so long as he gives the bong a good cleaning.

 

Its not illegal to ship a bong or even a grinder, but i would recommend cleaning them thoroughly, or you will probably get caught,

 

I'd use bubble wrap.  Some years ago, I bought a real Rohr Bong from Germany and they shipped it to me in bubble wrap, NO Problems.
