Raspberry Cough, 400w MH/HPS, DWC, first hydro grow

  1. Yesszer! If there's a way to keep your current soup then do so. No need to dump it all. What I'd do is remove the entire plant and place into another bucket with a hole on the side near the bottom like you have now. And flush from top with 10 gallons of water then place back in it's home. Then when you're doing just the water you can do 5 gallons each day from top if you like, making sure to still have water in the bucket once you've done the daily flush (optional)

  2. UPDATE: [Day ??]
I can't remember what day it is of 12/12. It's written down in my notes at home, but I'm in the home stretch here now so I'm just cruising and flushing. Tonight I'll drain out the soup with the Final Phase and put in fresh, plain, un-ph'd H2O. I'll let that run until I get back in town on Sunday. Then it's time to chop! I'll probably start plucking off all the fan leaves Sunday night. Then start chopping the bitch down Monday night. Not much else to report. I finally got my USB scope working so I got some solid macro shots. Weirdly, the fucking capture software showed the image but wouldn't capture it correctly. So I just kept doing screengrabs of it and cropping them down. It works.

Got me a fresh box of rubber gloves and a whole pile of alcohol wipes for my trimming day. One of the perks of having a brother who is a doctor when he comes home with this...

  4. Very nice.....she sure is a hairy one, lol! Yeah the best way I've found so far is remove all the unwanted foliage while the bitch is still standing. Just make sure to leave all them little sugar leaves. Then what I go is grab a hack saw and cut her stalk as low as possible while still trying to be gentle so I don't knock all then beautiful tricks off. Then hang her upside down with an oscillating fan on low below her to move the air. Then you de bone and bag as you previously stated. When you're doing this all your sugar leaves are crisp and ready to make hash!!

  5. I see a little dick in the last pic. Some strains if they get stressed any at all will do that. I have not grown a blueberry that didn't morph on me yet.

  6. Yeah, I discovered she herm'd a couple weeks ago. Oh well, now I know this one is a sensitive little cunt.

  7. ^^^LOL, don't feel so bad bro! My first grow Hermed on me too but I have a feeling it had to do with the issues I was having with my pH pen. I had a faulty one, took forever to replace it so during veg and flower I had no clue where it was at. This most def fucked my grow! Seams like yours occurred late on so in sure your smoke will still be good!

Too bad I got in here late, hope you find a place soon to reload this grow!

  10. UPDATE:
She went into darkness last night. I flushed for three days last week with AN Final Phase. Then dumped that and put plain, un-ph'd water in. That's been in for the last four days or so. Last night I topped off the res with more plain un-ph'd water. I pulled off a bunch of the fan leaves. But not all of them because I got fucking tired. I'm going to leave her in total darkness for 48 hours. No lights, no air pumps, no ventilation. Just dead ass darkness. This will pump up the buds a little more and give a final push for ripeness on the trichs. Thanks to @[member="Hortila"] and JJ for this advice.

Here's the girl before I started plucking fans off her:

And here she is back in the tent getting ready for darkness after I plucked some fans:

I will have plenty of popcorn buds on the bottom to blast into wax. A few of the colas up top are massively girthy. I can't wait to chop the bitch down and really see how big this one cola is that feels like a big ass squash. It's still hard for me to guesstimate weight since I haven't trimmed it all down yet. But I'm going conservative and saying a dry weight of 4 onions. Anything over that and I will be thrilled. I'll be back soon when it's chop time. Going out of town again this weekend so I'll probably chop and hang before I head out on Friday. Cheers gents.

  11. Yeah I'm interested in seeing what you get.....4 onions plus for sure!

  12. White Widow you leave in the dark for the last 2 weeks, but running air pumps.

  13. Two weeks?! Damn man that's crazy to me. I'll have to keep it in mind if I ever grow WW! I've smoked it before but don't have any immediate plans to grow it. Thanks for the heads up.

I wouldn't worry about the odd male flower this late on. I have had it happen numerous times with no seeds at all. I think it's common especially for feminised to throw out a banana or two in the last days, but its too late to have an effect by then anyway.

I also don't believe in the whole darkness thing, there's just no logic to it. The plant has been flowering for like 9 weeks in lots of light, starving it of light for a little while at the end just can't do anything. In fact when I harvest it usually takes me a week from start to finish, they are in the dark the whole time and there is no difference between the bud that is first picked to the last one. I have grown white widow many times too . They look great though @[member="OneDayJD"] I bet you're stoked man

  15. I just read further and see you do indeed have seeds. I hope it isn't too many mate

  16. Yeah, this was my first time doing it. So I am more so doing it as an experiment to see if I notice anything. And since I've seen it recommended by JJ, it can't be detrimental. I trust that guy's word more than most. Regardless, tonight I'm chopping her off at the base and hanging the bitch whole to get a nice slow dry. I'll be out of town a couple days and don't want her too crispy when I get back. Plus I don't know yet what kind of overall density I have. And I have the luxury of time so I'm going to take it nice and slow. Just like how I make my barbecue and brisket.

Yeah, it sucks but oh well! Most, if not all, of this is for personal smoke so I'm not worried about moving anything out the door with beans in it. Must have stressed the little cunt too much.

Side note, I had a couple super tiny popcorn buds way at the bottom of the plant right on the stalk, like an inch above the hydroton. I wanted to get those off before I took a hacksaw to the base of the stalk. So I snipped them off and quick dried them last night just because. I didn't want to throw em away or anything. And I've got plenty more popcorns to blast. I took those little buds and put them on a little tin foil tray and set on top of a lamp and let it dry. Surprisingly not nearly as harsh as quick dried buds I've tried in the past. I'm now really excited for the smoke and taste of this once it's properly dried and cured. Stay tuned.

  17. Negative, ghost rider. Dude at my local hydro shop gave me a sample of it back when I started this grow but I never used it. I used AN Big Bud for my P/K boost in flower. Not opposed to using it. Just haven't researched it enough yet and had already decided what I was going to run. You like Koolbloom?

  18. I have a new bag here I havent used yet, but have heard it CAN cause hermies, which is the reason I asked. Any Idea how the "stress" happened?

  19. Well, it could be one of a couple things. Possible culprits...

    1. Too much defoliation in flower. I defoliate a good bit but I typically try and limit it to vegging. With this grow I got a little behind and ended up doing some more in flower. It was early in flower, but I still did it. So that's a possibility.

    2. Only other stress I can really think of is about halfway or two-thirds of the way through 12/12, I got a deficiency. After much research and asking around here, we determined with relative certainty that it was a micronute deficiency. Which I have never had before. I caught it and fixed it (just needed to let my ph fluctuate some more, I was locking out some shit). But I don't even know if something like a micronute deficiency can even be considered stress when it comes to stressing a plant to the point of herming. So this may be a moot point.

That's really all I can think of. So bottom line, it was either the defoliation too much in 12/12, or just genetics.
