Seasoning nails using your oven

Discussion in 'Concentrate Tools' started by Jimmy Carter, Nov 7, 2013.

  1. So I came up with an idea of seasoning quartz(or Ti) nails using the oven. When seasoning by heating, letting it cool and then putting oil on it, you have to do it several times before its ready to dab on.

I've noticed by using the oven and getting a slow, consistent boil, you can effectively season your nail without having to waste as much errl. After one session in the oven, its ready to dab off of with full flavor :bongin:

    Its very simple,

-Pack 2-3 dabs worth of oil in the nail head
-rig something to hold the nail either glass or metal
-place it in the oven and then set to 350-450f
-after 15-20 minutes the boiling should've slowed down and you can shut off the oven
-remove/burn off leftover oil and get ready to dab off it

  2. Definatly gunna try this on my next naill seems like it works good!

  3. I usually have some reclaim set aside, for whenever I need to "prepare"/"season" a titanium or quartz nail. Don't have to waste your top-notch errlz, and it gets the job done just the same..

  4. tried with Ti, worked amazing. If you arent seasoning nails like this, you better start. no need to waste hella dabs. even if you are using reclaim, this method is better because it will take waaay less time and dabs.

Got my new V3 head in the oven now. I really hope I used enough shatter. All I have is good stuff right now and no funds to get some crap to season with. About once a year I miss my claim catcher.

Edit:  LOL Someone asked me "whats cooking? It smells good."

  6. how did it work out for you? worked amazing on my infiniti

  7. Worked out really well. I was a bit skeptical at first as I put the nail head on a baking sheet and didn't stand around watching. After 30 mins I took it out and there was a little pool of oil still smoking in the nail head. I thought maybe I did it wrong as after I torched off all the excess oil the nail didn't look like it had a very good coating on it. First dab had me really surprised as how well it tasted\\dabbed. It took about 2 dabs before it was working at 100% but I would say after the oven it was easily 85% on one dab.

Wouldn't jump into threads and start pimping yours, however.

If you're truly interested in testing and feedback... let your stuff speak for itself in its thread. You won't need to draw people to it.

  9. I just started development, and i guess, need to get people interested in testing it with legit product. I didn't mean to jump in, just trying to get noticed and hopefully progress testing to a point where something sticks.

  10. shared this method with the employee at the LHS, blew his mind.
    thanks for the info Jimmy!

gonna put this method to use, just got a dome & nail setup.
    :devious:

  11. Whats the benefit of seasoning a nail ? Is it strictly for the taste ?

  12. yeah, dabbing on an unseasoned nail is gross, probably bad for you even, who knows. that metallic taste cannot be good :confused_2:

  13. What's the best way to season a quartz nail without using wax or reclaim? I only have a half gram and don't want to waste it on seasoning.

  14. grape jelly.... no joke lol

  15. Fucking Jimmy my man. Can't believe you just posted this, or I just saw it. Got a new quartz nail today and was about to star seasoning it when what do you know a video on seasoning nails in the oven. Genius. Let you know how it goes.

  16. So how do I season a quartz nail with grape jelly?

  17. same as you would with oil. I did it once and it worked fine. YOu need to heat up your nail and let it cool significantly, more than if you were gonna take a dab and let it slowly boil on the nails surface. when it slows down, scrape out  what you can and repeat the process a couple times.

I would try it in the oven though at like 350 and see how that does, should work fine in theory but I've never done it

  18. And why is the dunking in water method bad? I saw a video on Nuggetry TV where they did the dunking in water method and said it worked well.

  19. not good for the nail and it doesnt work, at least not when I was trying it. I always stuck to boiling oil on the nail and its perfect.

thats the point of doing it at lower temperatures in the oven, you're able to season your nail without using 5-10 dabs. only 1-2 dabs-worth of oil needs to be in the nail head, depending on how big of a nail it is, and it has great flavor with just that one session in the oven.

try it, if it doesnt work better than the water for you then continue to do the water, wont hurt to give it a shot
