Please help, I have extremely loud auditory hallucinations after smoking :(

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by James Corcoran, Nov 5, 2013.

  1. Hi everyone!

So, I've been smoking (actually, vaping) weed regularly a few times a week for around 4 years.

Last night, I vaped my same weed that I've been using for several months and around 2 hours later as I was falling asleep I got these terrible auditory hallucinations (at least I believe they were hallucinations, no one else in my house seemed to hear them although I did not ask them) that sounded as if a fire alarm was going off inside my head.

It was the most painful, scary, thing I had ever experienced and lasted for almost 2 hours where I thought I was dying and literally could not move because each movement made the hallucinations even louder.

I'm really scared, its the next morning and the sounds are still in my head (but much fainter, luckily).  Anyone have an idea of what this could be?  I would think laced weed, but I've been smoking this stuff for months already and its been normal...thanks.

  2. your heads fucked up brah

You sound like you smoked when you were really tired ... or you smoked too much and tensed up.

Sometimes the high from vapes makes you too "heady" and can feel a bit "hallucinatory".

Are you on any medications or do you have a mental disorder?

Switch strains too man. Some strains are super low on CBD and CBN and the THC buildup bothers some people.

  4. Thanks for the replies guys, its been around 18 hours since I vaped and I'm still having a pretty strong ringing feeling in my head, but it is thankfully nothing like before and seems to be subsiding.

Definitely going to switch strains if I even get the courage back to vape again lol.  And nope, no meds or mental disorders.  Thanks for the advice!

You certainly triggered your flight or fight response, dumped mad adrenaline in your body and had an anxiety attack

  6. this same exact thing happened to me and I have yet to find anyone else who has said this. did it ever go away for you? its really bumming me out like I can't even smoke anymore and Im afraid to do shrooms or anything now because I feel like the same thing could happen.

  7. Sounds like underlying psychosis. I'm not a fucking doctor though.

  8. Maybe you had a very potent sativa. I know if I start smoking multiple bowls of a pure sativa my perceptions get distorted almost like sounds sound closer than they really are and sometimes you'd swear the sound came from inside your head but I don't suffer panic attacks because I can always tell myself it's only the weed.

Try switching to indica and lower the potency, the lower potency indica strains tend to have more cbd in them, not like high cbd strains but just a few percentage points is enough to mitigate some of the psychosis inducing effects of high potency THC.

  9. try not vaping your first time back to the game. smoke a bowl. take a hit and give yourself some time for it to hit you.

  10. I have experienced this before and it was caused, at least I think, by cannabis that was not harvested at the right time..little too early. It was somewhat too heady which cause auditory hallucinations. Sounded like crickets all around me..like a million of them. Can be jarring, but it will go away. Try a different strain from a different source.

  11. Sleep paralysis?

  12. I sometimes hear the Super Mario World theme songs when I'm high. And once in a while when I'm sober. It used to be really bad, especially if there is a fan going or any constant noise. Nowadays I usually just hear the coins from Mario world.

  13. I used to have this happen all the time when i first started smoking, you probably just have a low tolerance. It would happen to me more if i was alone to so i suggest maybe turning your tv up or what ever to make it not happen as much. Ps it still happens to me occasionally when im hella baked at night

  14. ( considering that you are used to smoking the way you do ) the ringing could be to do with your ears.

Tinnitus.  This is so common and can be side effect from certain medications.

Remember that the ear nose and throat are all connected, so tinnitus could even be brought on, by lets say a cold you had last week, or if you wore a tight fitting bike helmet for a few hours before you smoked your vape.

I would see if the condition increases with use.
If it does, ask your GP for advice. No need to mention the marijuana use really.

Oh and try rubbing your ears gently if the ringing starts, this may help.

  15. As a person with various illnesses, please take my advice and get checked up anyway. Just in case.
