Greenhouse WINTER Grow

  1. just wondering if it would work ?
I have a plant vegging and i was thinking of buying some more pre veg plants and putting them in there in home depot 5 gal buckets wth ff ocean forest .
Its late October now  and the greenhouse is 99% done and the nights temps still haven't got lower then 50 degrees outside im growing veggie's but i think some plants would thrive in there, any ideas on strains that like outdoors and are tolerant of the so cal climate.
eventually im going to add a heater when i find an efficient one  and then temps wont be a problem.

  2. you'll have to supplement light if you intend to actually veg cannabis during winter months. but it can be as simple as a couple CFLs to keep the plant thinking daylight hours are longer then they really are.

other then that, your girls will flower as soon as they reach maturity.

  3. You must have a thorough understanding of your local micro climate to be successful, but to do that all you gotta do is ....do it!
T5 light s are ideal also a heater

  4. What kind of heater do i need ? In my country winter is not very cold. It almost never snows. Also how can i put lights in my greenhouse if i have no power source ?

  5. OP I read your post in my Winter Grow. If you're in garden zones 7b-10 you can grow outdoors, over winter in a greenhouse no issues. Greenhouses keep the temperatures about 30F warmer. So if your lowest night time temps hit 30F, it will be around 40F-60F depending on humidity, sun exposure, ect..

My Bubba Kush has been outside for 3 weeks now and has survived 3 frosts under a cut in half 2 litre bottle. Growth is a lot slower than usual, just a heads up. They will act like an auto flower on steroids, flipping straight into flower but the yield might be somewhat higher than average autos.

You don't NEED supplemental lighting for them to grow outdoors, just to make them bigger. Also, if you have the choice, Indica strains fair better with colder weather vs. Sativa. Push for a heavy Indica or pure Indica if at all possible.

Good luck, let me know if you need any help!

  6. Thanks for the information! When do you think it will be harvest time ?

  7. For me with the plant being 3 weeks old right now I'm guessing late December to Mid January. It's hard to tell I've never grown outdoors during the winter so I can't make an accurate assumption.

I myself am running a winter crop.I just threw my leds in the greenhouse, they click on when it gets dark and stayon till 3am,so they are getting almost 21 hours of light.
I live in So Cal so I haven't had to worry about a heater yet, just the dehumidifier due to fog.
As the strains go: just try a few dif ones.
Right now im running San Fernando diesel,LA Confidential,BlackBerry,XJ-13,BlueDream.And some early Trainwrecks.
I have noticed indica seem to do better in the winter.Last year I ran a silverhaze and a Pure power plant(Sativa dom's) and a Skunk#1(indica dom)
The skund#1 grew out with no probs, the Silverhaze & PPP were very weak.
Are you in so cal?   and what strain do you have at the moment

  9.
i am in so cal to . i currently have 1 strawberry cough and im planing on buying some more pre veg plants, i just did not know which strains would do good in so cal.

when do you stop supplementing light to induce flowering ? how cold can the greenhouse get before i have to worry it has already been 48 degrees one night in there

  10. UPDATE
the baby is at the limit for the veg box time to go in the greenhouse or build a bigger veg box ?
the greenhouse is 99% done i have even started adding a little hydro or aquaponics system for veggies
my only worry is i haven't got the temperature controller yet so i have been doing everything manually.
would the mj care if the temperature changed alot on a cloudy day it goes from 60 degrees to 90 in minutes

here are some pics the greenhouse and veg box the lavender plant is no longer in the greenhouse now its just a jalapeno and soon some lettuce

  12. I could use a little help with my winter grow. Below is a link to a pic from yesterday round noon but date on camera is wrong; even the year.
I have mostly clear trichomes 'bout 1/4 cloudy. I am near the Oregon border in CA. and made it through a few low 20s but it killed a lot of leaf though that will make them easier to trim. I am planning on harvesting in two days when the low is expected to be in the teens b u t I would LIKE to go at least another week. They are in a 20X40 hoop house with 3.5 mil poly sheets. THING they'll g(r)o in the teens? THANKS!

  13. Smudge pot time..
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/161851391985?ul_noapp=true&chn=ps&lpid=82
I can remember the orange groves here in So Calif filled with them every 100 feet or so..

  14. Got every smudge pot made but the little elec. heaters are so easy and less than 5 bucks a day. JUST checked my gals and though they are still packing on trichomes clouding up a bit more; they also showed a little cold damage. Was going to wait 'till TUES and spend the day harvesting but I chickened out after diss 'morning's inspection and will begin harvest tomorrow early. Got down to 27 last night and supposed to be up/down to 34 tonight so should get another swelling of trichs by morning then down they come. Did I mention I am 30 miles south of the Oregon border in CA.? C O L D makes it very hard to get to amber. Dispensaries like it as it is now. I still would like to go a week more to see so leaving several stumps with shoots to discover jest exactly what this Greenhouse Seeds' King's Kush can do up here.

  15. Where I live, that shit would be all fuzzy before morning.

  16. Man imagine starting in march or april, and finishing december 1st lol. You'd have some serious yields, assuming you watched out for bud rot. But yeah if you just sit out there for a night and see what the average temps are, all you may need to do is add a small space heater and dehumidifier.
