Do you guys feel that edibles raise your tolerance?

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by Fredbear, Oct 22, 2013.

  1. Almost everytime after Ive made cookies  I feel like I have to smoke more to achive that special spot for me.......Then i usually take 2 days off (right now) to kind of get back.

I only smoke about joint and a bowl a day in the eves....but when i have edibles I feel alot higher then smoking or vaping, so I gotta smoke more to feel it.

so I ask you guys do edibles raise it

  2. THC raises your tolerance. So yeah lol.

  3. alright I guess I had better ask do you guys feel edibles raise your tolerance faster then just smoking

  4. Its hard for me to tell, i eat edibles a lot recently and 100mg is still a solid dose for me, i havent noticed an increase at all really, but i dont doubt that it can increase it, maybe it takes a while though

  5. Yes I make very potent edibles, so the massive amounts of cannabinoids digesting definitely makes it harder to get stoned from just smoking.

  6. yep edibles will raise youre tolerance, its a different ingestion method so expect different results. i prefer to keep edibles to special occasions/weekends if not ill burn out.

  7. It's pretty maddening to me. It's almost not worth it. I got really wasted 3 nights ago on edibles bc I was having so much trouble sleeping. It knocked me out good and I woke up on the couch at 2am.

Now for 3 days, I can't get stoned at all. I have good premiumn weed and I feel stoned while smoking or vaping, but as soon as I am done, 5 min later, I am wondering why I am not high.

  8. Yeah, I take a day or two off after some potent edibles.

    In short - yes  :(

Ingesting edibles plays havoc with your tolerance levels.

All of the following presumes that your edibles are well made (activated and bio-available).

If your tolerance levels are up because of heavy smoking (which doesn't apply to you), you will need to ingest at least the same amount as you would smoke in a day, or even a bit more. Still, if you are smoking six bowls of herb just to get a buzz on, you could easily feel no effects from the edible at all, even if you did eat a fair bit.

I find that any smoke I have while stoned on the edible will work well (I rarely smoke at all until the effects of the edible have worn nearly all the way off), and the first smoke the next day is OK. But after that I will struggle to get high with each subsequent use and I'll need to take a few days off by having a tolerance-break (T-break).

For smokers such as yourself that don't smoke a lot in quantity but smoke regularly, you too would have to ingest at least what you would smoke in a day. Now, if you ingested, say, double what you'd smoke in a day there's a good chance you will get totally baked. Or you might have too much. Take care.

Still, you will struggle to get high the next evening on the amount you'd normally smoke.

So, tolerance issues will arise but won't be as severe as for the heavy smoker that has recently eaten an effective edible. You will need to have a day or so off though unless you are happy to smoke a little more than usually per evening for a while until your body evens itself out.

For people that are occasional smokers or complete newbies, be very careful with edibles. Ingesting too much can cause terrible green-outs and the like (I've never had one, but those that have don't recommend it).

So it is important for inexperience cannabis users or very occasional users to make sure to never ingest more than they would smoke in a SINGLE SESSION until they become accustomed to it and can dose with confidence. In the meantime - Be Careful! :D

I love everything about edibles, and, up to a point, I tailor my intake of herb around the use of them. It's a bit of a juggling act though, eating twice a week would leave me with just the one day (not enough) a week to have a smoke on (without wasting precious herb for minimal effect), but if I only eat once every ten days to a fortnight it isn't often enough!

To fully enjoy edibles you must seriously consider your tolerance levels - firstly to ensure that you ingest an adequate (but not excessive) dose and secondly to prepare you for the fact you will probably need to take a T-break in the days immediately after ingesting.

  10. i have been using RSO or hemp oil for over three years now, everyday, 365 days a year and my tolerance levels have never gone up past the first month i started. i can still get just as high from the same amount i used back then so these tolerance level threads i think are very unscientific in there approach. whether it will change your smoking i have no idea since i dont smoke my bud. cant imagine it would since tolerance levels on weed are a myth in my experience.

  11. I don't notice too much of a difference but I do think it's very likely they raise your tolerance more so than smoking would. Depends on a couple things though too.

But what is your dose now (as in - what was it at the end of the first month), compared to the very first day when you began your daily use?

If it is three, four or, as I suspect, at least five or 6 times the amount....put yourself in the shoes of people that have no option but to buy their herb.

OK, you don't smoke, but what if you did? Would you prefer to be stoned all day (by smoking) for, say, $20 a day or get the same hours stoned per day through edibles at $120 a day?

    Everything is relative, man.

Anyway, I can afford to use as much as I like because I am self-sufficient. But I draw the line at using a whole week's worth of smoke for a single day's effect when I can get stoned for A WHOLE DAY ON THE SAME AMOUNT OF MATERIAL, OR EVEN LESS, THAN I WOULD SMOKE ON THAT DAY if I ingest a well made edible only once every week to 10 days.

As for tolerance and myths. I'll tell you what I experience if I eat just two days in a row: I have to eat AT LEAST DOUBLE on the second day, and I can forget about smoking for the following 4 days at least. I just won't get stoned no matter how much I smoke until I've had a T-break of 72 hours or more, the longer the better  ;)

  13. Afghan, i use the same dose i used one month into starting as i do now, it has never changed since the first month of use for the same effect, never needed to increase it because it still works the same. i don't make edibles, i make rick simpsons hemp oil and take it in gel caps. i don't waste anything by burning it up in smoke, not that there is anything wrong with others using that way. your cost analyses is pathetic btw, i have no idea where you get info like that from. 1 pound of bud makes me enough oil to stay medicated for over a year and a half, easily, that's dosing everyday because i have pre cancer in my throat i cannot take any chances, i lost half my family to cancer.main point, there has been zero tolerance issues for me, my dosage has remained the same for 3 years now and the same dose i took 1 month into my regime, still gets me just as high now. am i an anomaly?, well i doubt it.

  14. Ok. I know this is a really old post. But I'm unsure about what you are talking about because of wording. When you say hemp oil what do you mean, CBD, or hash oil? Then later you said a pound of bud made into oil lasts you a year, so maybe you do mean hash oil.

  15. When Rick Simpson first started with his oil the vocabulary was a lot more generalized than it is now. Even hemp was illegal in many places and in some areas "hemp" was a synonym for marijuana. It's actually an activated "hash oil" but it's more accurate to call it "cannabis oil". It's full extract and activated unlike BHO and other concentrates. It's purpose is mainly medical and is used as the heavy hitter for cancer and many other diseases. It can be high-CBD if that's the type of strain you used. The best RSO is said to be a blend of different strains.

A pound makes about 2oz of RSO which would last most of us with chronic pain or other non-lethal illness quite a long time, maybe a year, but for a cancer patient that is less than a two month supply so it's variable.

I hope that helped and didn't confuse you more. :)

  17. I've been making edibles with BHO. I just got 10 grams. I mix with coconut oil and put it in the crockpot for 6 hours or so. Then I mixed with 8 Giradelli baking chocolate bars. Poured in candy molds containing 1Tablespoon each. I wanted to eat just one and get the effect I was looking for. It was perfect.

  18. In my experience, yes. I try to space them out at least every 4 day's or so.

  19. OH CRAP! i never even thought of infusing coconut oil with BHO using a crockpot! ty!! lol but yeah if your edibles are potent and not the hit or miss type you will def raise your tolerance the other day i ate 2 chocolate chip coockies baked with hash and i found myself on the toilet grabbing my head for 30minutes because i was so medicated lol

  20. I've ate edible chocolate bar a friend gave me. He said it was 3 doses . I ate it and didn't do anything. Another friend gave me a chocolate chip cookie sheet made with butter. It knocked my socks off. I probably smoke and 1/8th Oz a day. How much edible do I need to get high? Haven't ate much of it.
