Would anyone actually pay these prices for glass?

Discussion in 'Smoking Accessories Q&A' started by Michio Kaku, Oct 15, 2013.

  1. Why not ?

All those glasses are high quality glasses and have extreme amount of work on them , so the prices seems perfectly reasonable for me.

  3. lol $500-590 is an amazing deal on those bubblers. there's bubblers very similar to the ones on gc at a couple different shops i know of locally and they are easily a grand. I know of a couple good friends who have bought from gc multiple times and they are very pleased. and that's all that matters boys n girls  :bongin:

Yeah I know people do, but I don't think it's very smart when you can get an even better piece for half the price.
The only one I'd even consider is the Hops Glass Jagito Inline

High Quality yes.. but I'd much rather get a nice ROOR, and still have $300 for other shit, possibly other glass.
and if you wanna say they have alot of work and are quality I agree, but I definantly don't see anything special with the glass ice bong by American Glass works, especially for $670.. pfft.
    \t
Yeah because usually local headshops are over-priced, especially on bongs and bubblers.

  6.
Everyone has different budget and taste , i would also not buy a piece like that because i prefer regular bongs

  7.
I don't think that quote applies here..
There is quality under $500-$700 lol.
Not like these pieces are any better than ROOR, EHLE, and Black Leaf products.

  8. I wonder if you're THE Michio Kaku :D
Would be crazy if you were, haha

  9. Haha it would be interesting to find a world-renowned physicist on a weed forum :p
I'm glad you know of him, more people should.

  10. Hey I bet he's a toker, y'know?
And of course I know of him. I'm a geek :p

Well that's definantly a possibility, considering he's an educated man, and anyone who's educated knows the harmlessness of weed (directly consuming)
Haha, don't gotta be a geek to be interested in learning, knowledge is power, and in saying that my words fall short.
You can never know enough things man.. and people who refuse to gain some information in their brain are extremely naive.. especially if that's because they don't wanna be a "geek".
Ignorance is bliss but when it comes to learning things it can mean the opposite.

  12. Blowing a glass piece like that takes skill, skill that is well worth the price. These pieces are collectibles, they're works of art- and you'd never wonder why someone would pay much more than $500 for a painting or a sculpture. I want to buy a piece like that one day.

  13. If you want nice glass for less you need to go artist direct. Of course things are going to be more expensive when you have a middleman such as a head shop.

Also lol at the roor, ehle, black leaf comment.

  14. then try these things at once @ roor, ehle or ... to buy
I still have never seen anything like this there.
    Such work often take days

  15. Your first sentence made no sense..
I appreciate the art but fuck all that noise. When it comes down to smoking, these products aren't anything too special. When it comes down to craft then yes, very special.

Lol at the comment? Then why not quote it..

Yeah but getting a piece as a smoking device as opposed to an piece of art is different.
I'm saying why would anyone buy these other than the artistic value.
I'm talkin pure smoking device, not a fuckin Picaso.
    I'll stick with a $600 leather couch.
    or a $300 ROOR.

  16.
Well in terms of functionality these pieces are the same as all other pieces, so in that sense it doesn't make sense to spend the extra money on them. But I still think some of these piece are bad ass and I would love to have one - just for the artistic value :)

  17. Why didn't I quote it? Do I have to quote things to respond to them?

You keep bringing up roor in like every post. Why do you like roor? A straight tube for $300? Please. I got my efs brand new for $300.

Picking between 2 high end pieces functionally comes down to preference really. If it were a roor vs my efs I would take my efs because I prefer the hit of a stemless over something with a down stem.

To answer your question, go to "My Settings" and then that will direct you to your User CP
Then under the 5th sub-title, "Profile Information" you'll see "Member Title"
There you can edit it :smoking:

Well quoting it notifies me.. and you talked about a comment.. usually people that quote are referencing to a certain comment, as you did in a regular post.
I don't particularly like Roor but given their reputation I used in example of a quality piece with good functionality.
I prefer something with a downstem but im not trying to make anyone think I love Roors or something..
I'd rather have a nice bubbler or sherlock than a bong anyway.
