Making pot brownies / cannabutter and need some help?

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by Stacks420, Oct 12, 2013.

  1. Ok so I am making the cannabutter right now and I have looked at guides on here and on YT but they all confuse the shit out of me a little because they do it all different.

Here's what I did so far:

Ground up 17.5g of bud with grinder.

Put 3 sticks butter into a pot

Melted and put bud in. I don't know how hot it should be (well I do but I don't have a thermometer) so is It supposed to bubble or no? I had it bubbling a bit first but I thought it might be burning the THC so now I turned it down and there's no bubbles but like if it got any hotter it would.

I also put water in there. Some people did and some people didn't that I have watched. I don't know what the difference is. But anyway, ya I did that.

So after do I put it in the fridge (was gunna wait 2-3 hours) and if so how long? Then do I have to melt it again or can I just put it as is into the brownie mix? I hope to get these done and eaten tonight :smoking:

You're doing alright brother. Made mine with water and they were the only edibles to have ever effected me. Boiling is fine as it should extract the thc which will get absorbed by fat in the butter just don't have it raging so it's spilling over. Won't have to melt the butter again but it will need to be room temp. But at that point just follow the brownie instructions treating your canna butter as it were just regular butter. Unless your staying up late I'd say tomorrow is a better bet. This will give you time to enjoy the high anyway. Cheers!

  3. You want to clarify the butter and then double boil the clarified butter with your herb so it doesn't burn. People used to use water to keep the butter from burning but double boiling eliminates that problem. You want to clarify the butter so the fat can bond with the cannabanoids easier. In a nutshell thats pretty much it. If the brownies work the way you did it then you did alright. Live and learn man.

  4. What do you mean by clarify and double boil?

  5. Google clarifying butter its a lot faster and thorough than me explaining it. As far as double boiling get a big pot and a little pot. Boil water in the bottom one and put whatever your boiling in the small one. Put the small pot in the big pot and you're double boiling.

Yes I just did, wish I had known that from the start haha. Anyway, its in the refrigerator right now but I was wondering how I would add it to my brownies? I am using a brownie mix and it calls for vegetable oil so should I use the butter instead of this? Also, how much butter per brownie mix? It says 2/3 vegetable oil and 1/4 cup water.

  7. I finally ended up getting everything done last night, thanks for the help.

I just ate my first brownie and its been about almost 2 hours and I don't really feel anything. If anything, just a very slight buzz. It was a pretty small brownie, I weighed them and this was about 27.5g, one of the smallest that I had cut. I'm wondering if I should eat another or keep waiting this one out? Also, what is an average/normal size/weight of a brownie? I used 2/3 cup of cannabutter which had 17.5g of bud in the whole stick of butter I made (I used about 2/3 of what I had).
