Hypoxics Nirvana Northern Lights x4 Feminized Seeds 400w MH/HPS 1st Time Grow

  1. That's exactly why I went with NL for their resiliency! Oh and the fact it's like the OG strain from which all this medical stuff comes from

  2. Nice work!! Don't sweat the transplant. When I did my transplant i added mycorrhizae and buried the girls up to their necks and didn't leave any stem exposed.

  3. Others should opine but the sense I get in reading GC is rarely before three weeks and typically four is the norm.

    Day 15

    Woah

    Seriously

    Woah

They all put on serious weight today with the introduction of the full 400w MH.

Temps and humidity are nice and stable.  My peak temp went for 75* to 77* so i'm extremely happy with how the tent and the girls are responding to full power.

They all definitely will need a drink tomorrow as the soil looks very dry, tomorrow will be the longest they've gone without water so hopefully they are acclimating to it well.

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves!

  6. **UPDATE** 10/18/13

    Day 16

Watered all four ladies today.  They were getting almost no run off with their usual amount of water so I increased them to 1 cup each which resulted in a nice rough 30% run off.

I do have a slight problem.  While watering them I noticed that on #1 & #2, each plant has 1 of its lowest leafs showing very slight sings of some kind of burning.  I have included a pic.  If anyone could possibly fill me in on what could be the problem and if I need to do anything to correct it?  All of them are in the same soil, get the same water and are under the same lights so i'm confused why #3 & #4 do no show any signs of this.  Both plants only have this one spot with all other newer leafs showing no signs of distress.

    Thanks for checking in!

Point being here just keep an eye and let it do it's thing!

  8. I'd get those babies transplanted asap, root growth is already being restricted.  Also, I wouldn't worry too much about that tiny spot.  You could easily wreck your plants trying to correct an issue that was never really an issue.  Besides, those leaves are going to die anyways.

  9.
Cool.  That's what I figured and why I didn't try and do anything hastily, I knew I was probably getting upset about nothing.

My goal it to transplant them at the end of this week, so they will have been in soil for 21 days to ensure they have a good root mass during transplant.  I know they are getting a little big for the cups, I tried peaking in the holes in the bottom to see if i could see the roots but i made a bunch of tiny holes so no luck, I may crack one open along the side to see and than place it inside of another cup to keep it light proof.

Overall i'm really happy with them, they all look healthy and are growing vigorously...just a scared first time dad over here lol.

  10. We are both first timers :)

  11. Looking good I wouldn't worry to much about the yellowing on the oldest leaves I had that also, they will really take off when you transplant them.

  12. I think i'll hit the hydro store tomorrow on my way home from the parents house so that I can transplant any time this week.

Should 2.5 bags of Ocean Forest be enough soil to fill 4 five gallon containers (the black ones they are sitting on in the pics)?  Any other suggestions of things I might want to grab at the hydro store that could come in handy for late veg?  I already have Fox Farms Grow Big nutes that i'm going to start once they get into their forever homes.

  13.
    Weed porn!!!

funny story.  Way back before I even had the desire to try marijuana I worked with this guy that was certifiably nuts.  We had cubicles right next to each other.  All day every day he'd be tapping my shoulder to look at his computer.  He was surfing seed banks and growing sites on his work computer and would go on and on about how nice they looked.  I always was just like "cool man" and never paid any attention.  Now oddly enough i'm searching out weed porn and watching youtube grow videos for fun.  Oh how perspectives change in life right?

  14. I love watching youtube weed porn, nothing like a good time lapse

  15.
Than you'll enjoy when i'm done.  The pics i post...I have them all in folders under Time Lapse so that each day has a pic.  I flip threw them each day and watch them grow really fast.  When I'm done i'm going to make a nice video of them all growing in time lapse from seed to harvest.

    **UPDATE** 10/19/13

    Day 17

Today was a bad day to be around this household and I think the ladies are picking up the bad vibes, they seem a little droopy and sad.  I'm thinking maybe a pinch too much water as they look like they are perking back up late in the day today.

I noticed something that I read about on here but wouldn't believe it till I saw it with my own eyes.  So I went down last night to close up the passive intakes before lights out and I peek in and all 4 of them looked completely relaxed and droopy.  I heard people say they can sense impending night time and start to power down but damn I couldnt believe it.  I had checked on them a few hours earlier and they were in their usual cheering position and than bam right to sleep a few min before the light goes off lol.

I seem to have gotten an odd variety of phenos as #2 looks very sativa'ish in its leafs while #4 looks very indica short and squat and than #1 & #3 are an odd mix of the two.  I wish I had the ability because #2 looks like she could make a great mother to take clones from.

I eased the light down to 20" tonight.  My goal it to get to 18" as long as they can handle it without heat stress.  This is the only place I'm regretting my plan.  When I bought this kit I was not aware they offered it with an optional cooltube fixture.  I would have paid the extra for it.  Not that I have heat issues, I can manage really well even with a non cooled hood, but I kinda sigh a little to think how close I could get with a cooltube...oh well, next grow i'll upgrade it.

I also picked up my soil for their big containers today so I am going to aim to transplant mon or tues...wish me luck!  I'll be watching every video I can find on youtube for pointers, I have a hard time feeling confident doing anything ive never done before, like real hard to the point of anxiety attacks :(

Sorry for the long winded post but like I said, not a good day around here so it feels nice to just talk about what does make me happy.

    Thanks for checking in!

  17. Keep your head up!! Looking good so far!! Hope it's gets better

  18. Hope tomorrow is a better day!

Good luck with the transplant just take it slow and don't rush it main thing is to keep the root ball intact and not damage it.

  19. **UPDATE** 10/20/13

    Day 18

Measured the girls today to get actual heights.  They are as follows (measured from soil to top most point of new growth):

    #1 - 3 1/8"
    #2 - 3 1/4"
    #3 - 2 3/4"
    #4 - 2 7/8"

So you can see that #3 is very short and stout but is stacking nodes very tightly, more than any others.

I also noticed that the very lowest leafs (not the first rounded ones that come in) on #3 & #4 really look like they are dying...is this normal?

They definitely need water tomorrow, their cups are super light today.

My goal is to water tomorrow, and than transplant to 5 gallon containers on tuesday...does this make sense?  To transplant 1 day after watering so that the soil is moist and not so dry that it'll crumble?

Also, can someone tell me as far as counting internodes and what not, do you just could each "shoot" coming out of the main stem?  like right now i count each plant as having 3 branches coming out from the main stem...does that mean its at its 3rd internode?

    Thanks!
